Artichoke & Spinach Dip Restaurant Style

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2008
I liked the idea of this recipe because I could use the alfredo sauce in my pantry I was never going to eat, and because it didn't use mayonnaise! I added two extra cloves of garlic, and it was very good.

Addictive Sweet Potato Burritos

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2008
My new favorite recipe! I made only 6 servings, and still had a lot of filling leftover. I'll use the leftover filling to make quesadillas or empanadas later this week. Next time I make this, I'll add cilantro too.

Apple Crisp II

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2008
I made this with 8 apples, and it was still way too much for my 8x12 pyrex. I ended up putting leftover apples in a smaller one and baking two pans of it. Otherwise, great taste especially with vanilla ice cream!

Grandma Ruth's Stuffing

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2008
I've never had eggs in my stuffing before so I didn't think I would like it, but I think this was my favorite stuffing yet! Leftovers are great too!

Peanut Butter Pie I

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2008
When I made this, I was sure it wouldn't turn out. The peanut butter mixture looked so thick, like cookie batter, but when I put in the whipped heavy cream it really mixed in well. It was so light, and I topped it with chopped up mini peanut butter cups. It does get warm really quick though, so next time I might pop it in the freezer for an hour beforehand.

Creamy Mashed Potatoes II

I made these the day before Thanksgiving and baked them the day of! The ranch flavoring (I used a recipe from this site) really set it apart from other recipes I've tasted before!

Bulgur Chickpea Salad

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2008
I had such high hopes for this, but it didn't quite deliver. I used the bulgur and was quite surprised when it did soak up 2 cups of water! Then I added the full amount of lemon juice and half the amount of olive oil. It was too much liquid to soak in fully, and had a funny taste. Too much lemon, and not enough flavor. If I made this again, I would do it again with some of the spices people suggested, and fresh garlic as well. Then I would mix it all, and let it sit mixed together overnight. I added sliced avocados on top, and it really was a healthy meal. This has great potential though!

Tomato-Cornbread Salad with Avocado and Cilantro

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2008
Good, but interesting. I can't help but think this tasted like guacamole with cornbread crutons thrown in!

Mom's Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2008
I doubled the amount of macaroni (I used ziti though) and doubled the amounts of cheese. I kept everything else the same, and it was awesome! This is the best Macaroni recipe I've found yet on Allrecipes!

Butter Chickpea Curry

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2008
This was pretty good, but lacked a little spice. It has a lot of spices in it, but next time I would add some cayenne pepper to give it a little kick. I prefer "Aloo Phujia" on this site, and would rather add garbanzos to that recipe.

Russian Tea Cakes I

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2008
Stick with the recipe not the reviews for the nuts. I tried both the walnuts (recipe) and the pecans (suggestions) on separate days. The walnuts were far better. I made this simple, I melted the butter, stirred in the vanilla. Then I dumped in the flour and powdered sugar and stirred until it was mixed. Then I dumped in the nuts that I ground in my food processor. They were easy to shape into balls and came out great. Make sure you wait though until they are absolutely cool before rolling them in sugar, at least a few hours or overnight. Otherwise you end up with a sticky, gummy mess.

Baked Teriyaki Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2008
I made this sauce without the cornstarch and water and put my chicken thighs in it overnight to marinate. When I cooked it, I put it on the grill instead on low heat for almost 40 minutes. The sauce I put in a small saucepan on the grill, brought it up to a boil, and basted my chicken with it every 5-10 minutes when I flipped it. I was told this was the best chicken I've ever made in my life. Plus, I had hardly any cleanup! No sticky baking pans for me! Try this method!

Roasted Brussels Sprouts

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2008
This was so good, I'll make this again for sure. I added a splash of red wine vinegar into the bowl before I put them in a glass pyrex. I also added fresh chopped garlic and whole cashews. Pine nuts would be a good addition as well. This was awesome right out of the oven, but I don't think the leftovers would be so great.

Best Spanish Rice

I threw this all in the rice cooker with a little more broth and it was so easy! I also added garlic, and instead of salsa I used pico de gallo I had on hand.

I know, it doesn't need anymore reviews, but this was better than any guacamole I've ever had before. I added about twice as much cilantro and I couldn't get enough!

Honey Oat Beer Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2008
This came out very good, but I did cook it for an extra 10 minutes. I didn't add any extra brown sugar or honey because I didn't want sweet bread, but I think it could've used it. Next time I will add an extra tablespoon of both honey and brown sugar. Great right out of the oven!

Mexican Corn on the Cob (Elote)

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2008
I never knew grilling corn on the cob would be so much easier. I put them on the grill with the husks on, and grilled them until the husks were burned and falling off. Then I made the sauce that SKHOUSTO suggested, only I mized it all together. I found that I didn't like the sauce on the elote, but the sauce was perfect as a condiment on my garden burger!

Shrimp Lemon Pepper Linguini

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2008
I made this to the T except I didn't use shrimp! The sauce looked awesome, so that's what I made! I served it over spaghetti and put chicken over it and tofu (the Caribbean Delight recipe from this site). I will keep the sauce recipe to use again!

Caribbean Delight

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2008
I made this with both chicken breasts and tofu. I marinated both overnight and grilled them the next day. It smelled great making the marinade, but I was a little concerned it would be too sweet. It wasn't sweet at all though! It smelled great on the grill and tasted even better. I served it over pasta.
