The name's Amanda, and i've been cooking and baking since about as long as i can remember. I always used to help my mother in the kitchen and for a while now, i've been doing a lot of the cooking around the house. I like to cook because it brings people together and gives me a chance to try new foods, and experiment with flavours. When i'm not cooking i'm usualy on the computer, riding my bike, or at school.
My favorite things to cook
My favourite things to cook would have to be any type of east indian food, and desserts.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family food traditions would have to be a lot of german dishes like noodles, and dumplings. But we also travel a lot and have been cooking food from other cultures since before i was born.
My cooking triumphs
I like to think that every dish i make that more than one person likes is a triumph. I don't have any specific memories of great things i've cooked, but one time i made a beautiful indian dinner for my family, and everyone enjoyed every dish, so it sticks out in my mind the most.
My cooking tragedies
Tradgedies are hard for me to think of, since i like to put those in the back of my mind. But one time i was trying to make these chinese desser balls, covered in sesame seeds that i had at The Mandarin one time, and i had to buy all these ingrediants in china town, and it turned out awful. I made them too big, because they were supposed to expand, and they came out all doughy, and tasted only slightly like they should have. I hope to try to make them again one day, but i think i'll have to wait a while.
