About this Cook
My favorite family cooking traditions
When I was growing up it was always tradition that on someone's birthday the person whose birthday it was would get to choose what kind of cake they would have and also pick their birthday dinner. My birthday favorite was typically chocolate cake with chocolate frosting OR german chocolate cake and for dinner, bratwurst, german potato salad and sauerkraut!

Big Soft Ginger Cookies
These cookies are amazing. My dough turned out too thin to roll so I had to add quite a bit more flour than the recipe called for to reach the desired consistency (probably due to my own error) however, they still turned out perfectly! Puffy and soft, flavorful ginger cookies!

Old-Fashioned Potato Salad
This potato salad is very good if you like trying new things and are willing to step outside "the box" as far as what potato salad "should" taste like. I think it is a fantastic recipe, however it was a little too sweet for me. I will definitely make this again, but next time I will cut the sugar in half and I think then it will be perfection!
