About this Cook
A sixteen year old who actually cooks.. yes that would be me. I love making something delicious out of practically nothing, and there's just something comforting in measuring out cups of flour and rolling dough. I guess cooking is therapeutic not only for adults, but for all ages too! Weird isn't it? tell me about it!
My favorite things to cook
Know what else is odd? I seldom eat the food I make! Whatever I cook, I usually make it for others... Nonetheless, I love making pies, especially apple pies and cheesecakes. And when I'm in the mood, I enjoy making dozens of cut out sugar cookies that I decorate elaborately with icing. Yum!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family's Indonesian, so my mom cooks a lot of yummy indonesian food. Maybe I'll submit some of her age-old indonesian recipes up on this site soon.
My cooking triumphs
Last Valentine's Day, I had to make over 200 heartshaped chocolate lollypops and over 150 mini truffles.. ALL IN TWO DAYS! I handled soo much chocolate during those two days, that I couldnt stand the sight of any kind of chocolate for weeks after!
My cooking tragedies
When I was 11, I once tried to make lemon muffins, but I accidentally substitued the sugar with salt. At the time I really had no idea about baking, so I thought that it was perfectly normal to mix a whole cup of salt into the batter. All in all, you can probably guess how THAT came out.

Chantal's New York Cheesecake
I've always been under the conception that cheesecake was one of the hardest desserts to make... until this recipe came along! This was my first attempt at a cheesecake, and it turned out great even for a beginner like me! The crust was a bit messy to assemble, but the texture of the cheesecake itself was so good and creamy! It tastes exactly like the gourmet cheesecake I used to buy in new york city...

Simple White Cake
I made this cake for a bakesale at my school and yes I do give it credit for being easy to make. But honestly, this cake tasted more like a yellow cake rather than a white cake. I think it tasted a bit too egg-y and it had such a thick, dense texture. I managed to salvage it by frosting it with lots of betty crocker's creamy vanilla frosting. (you can salvage practically AnYthiNG with a good frosting!) All in all, this is a pretty fair cake to try for a beginner..
