Yo soy de Houston, Tejas! I love to cook, bake, read, speak spanish, travel, see movies, and be in great company! I'm a student working toward my mba in finance.
My favorite things to cook
Breads and desserts! I love the focaccia bread & black bean corn salad from this site. I'm a bit of health freak, so most of what I make is fairly health conscious, but I do love great desserts on occasion!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Like most other American families, we celebrate Thanksgiving and Christmas with classic dishes like cornbread stuffing & turkey. But we're also Italian, so we sometimes have anise cookies, canolis, and italian sausage.
My cooking triumphs
I can make an awesome breakfast - pancakes, eggs, biscuits, waffles - and keep everything hot for when we all finally sit down. I also am considered the bread master of the family; three years ago I decided to try a simple recipe (Bread in a Bag), and since then I've worked my way up to more complicated yeast breads.
My cooking tragedies
Actually haven't had too many of those. As along as you follow the directions on well rated recipes you're generally fine. Don't swap out ingredients & drastically change things b/c some reviewer tells you to. Only once did I have some Irish soda bread come out dry & dense - and that was only b/c I left out the oil.
