I've always had a natural talent for cooking. I started cooking supper when I was in High School when my parents had to work late so mom wouldn't have to do it when she got home. I like to "experiment" with new dishes, which most of the time comes out just fine, even though my husband will say "Oh no, she's experimenting again". He rarely doesn't eat what I cook. The only things I can't cook are breads from scratch, bread maker works great though, and meringue, no matter how many times I watch my mom do it, mine always gets flat.
My favorite things to cook
I love to use the smoker my husband made to smoke or grill most any kinds of meats and vegetables.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family gets together at all the hollidays. Mom makes the main course and everyone else is told what to bring to go with it. My sister almost always has to bring the condiments andor relish tray (mom's afraid of her cooking). If someone complains about any item they have to make it for the next get together.
My cooking triumphs
Friends and family are always asking me for recipes and or how I made something.
My cooking tragedies
Not long after I was married, I decided to try out my slow cooker to make some "Beer Braised Beef". It looked a little dry, so I added "a little" extra beer, and went to work. When we got home the house smelled like someone had vomited beer in it all day. I gave the dog what was in the crock pot and even she turned up her nose to it. Is was a long time until I tried to cook with beer again.
