Roast Pork with Maple and Mustard Glaze

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2009
My husband is still licking his fingers, finishing up his dinner. I followed the instructions but basted the pork loin every 15 minutes as someone suggested. It took about 2 hours to cook through, but it turned out juicy and tender. We'll definitely be making this again.

Just right as is. Delicious. I love bean salads and this is easily my favorite.

Pink Icing Cookies

These are *exactly* the cookie I was looking for. They're like the grocery store ones w/pink (or purple or green or whatever) frosting and sprinkles. Thank you for making my kids and me very happy.

Chocolate Truffles

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2008
These aren't gourmet, but they're awfully good and easy... and easy beats gourmet when you're a mother of 4 looking to make something good for your kids' teachers for Christmas. I rolled these (after cooling on counter and then refrigerating briefly) in coconut, cocoa powder, and crushes pistachios. I need to make a second batch (these didn't make 72--more like 55) and think I'll add a little chili powder next time and then roll in the cocoa powder. There are all sorts of ways to doctor this recipe. But in the meantime, sweet and simple does it.

Turkey Tetrazzini II

I followed the advice of others and added onions and garlic to the early mixture and then breadcrumbs to the top before baking. Delicious. Will definitely make again.

Feta Chicken Salad

Delicious! I used only 1 stalk of celery (not a big fan) and about a quarter cup of minced white onion (no red at the time). Love it.

Wisconsin Cheese Soup II

Used one cup chicken broth instead of bouillon. Otherwise followed exactly then used hand blender just to make for a thicker consistency. (Did not grind up everything, so still chunky.) The cheese taste was just right, not overwhelming. Loved it.

Michelle's Blonde Chicken Chili

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2008
Excellent and easy. I cooked the chicken and onions in a large pot then just added the rest, brought it to a boil, then set it to simmer. I substituted minced garlic for the powdered garlic and only used 1 can of the green chilies (all I had on hand). Otherwise, I followed pretty closely. Easy dish that doesn't taste so easy. Served with the Golden Sweet Cornbread from this site.

So easy and tastes like it wasn't. I've taken this to several parties and I'm almost embarrassed when people ask for the recipe.

Apple Bread

Excellent. I leave out the nuts but otherwise follow the recipe exactly. It seems dry when mixing it, but the result is moist thanks to the apples juicing up while baking.

Garbanzo Bean Chocolate Cake (Gluten Free!)

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2008
Delicious! We had a friend over who can't eat gluten, so I threw this together and we all loved it. Even knowing it had garbanzo beans in it, my four kids inhaled it and asked for more. We'll be making this again!

So much better than the recipe on the oatmeal box! My kids and husband are eating them faster than I can pull them out of the oven. While warm, they're crispy *and* chewy. Heavenly.

Whole Wheat Snickerdoodles I

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2008
I don't generally give recipes I tweak a 5, but this was just so good I broke my rule. I added 1 and a half teaspoons of cinnamon (instead of the 1/2), and I didn't have vanilla so I used maple extract. I don't know if I'll bother with vanilla since the maple worked out so well. The only thing I'll do differently next time is double the recipe. They disappeared too quickly.

Chickpea Curry

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2008
Great and easy recipe. I have a channa masala recipe that is similar in taste to this but requires many more spices (and is therefore more expensive to make). I made no changes to this at all, but I do suggest grating the ginger instead of chopping it. Using a parmesan cheese grater works really well. And if you're looking for this as a main dish (great served over brown rice), it won't be enough for 8 people, so you'll want to adjust it a bit.

Sesame Pasta Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2008
Delicious recipe. If my 3-year-old will eat anything, I'm willing to make it every week. Thanks for adding to our family's repertoire. The only thing I changed was to add a tad bit more soy sauce--just a tablespoon or so more. I also think it's key to add the sesame seeds into the dressing instead of mixing it into the salad after the fact. The sesame flavor comes out much better that way.

Belle's Baked Beans

So good. I brought this to a friend's barbecue tonight and it was a huge hit. I followed the recipe exactly except for the granulated sugar, which I left out. And I also increased the bake time to about an hour and a half. I'll make this many times before the summer's over.

Honey Oatmeal Cookies

Delicious. More cake-like than cookie, but still great. I have a son who can't have refined sugar, but honey is okay. So I'm so glad to find a cookie recipe for him that doesn't use Splenda and still satisfies his sweet tooth.

Harira

I used ground lamb b/c that's what I had on hand. I didn't have celery or cilantro or pasta, but otherwise I followed the recipe pretty closely (but I left out the lemon since other reviewers didn't rave about the addition). And it was SO good! Also, with the ground lamb, the cooking time was cut in half but all of the flavor remained.
