About this Cook
I have lived in Minnesota my whole life. I started cooking when I figured out my parents couldn't cook (I use to thank the lunch ladies at school because I thought the food was good), I was about 14. I am blessed with a wonderful family. I thank the Lord for them! I have 3 kids, 17(step child), 7, & 2. All of my kids are such a blessing and present me their own joys and problems. It is nice to have them all spaced out because you get to enjoy so much. I do have to say that I am happy that I am done with diapers and would never go back. I have a, most of the time, wonderful husband.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook bars, cookies and anything sweet. Everyone loves baked stuff. It makes me the favorite and most wanted at any party. The best part of it is most baking is really easy.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We have yet to start one but really should, soon.
My cooking triumphs
Gravy was my first triumph. Looking back I laugh. Creme Brulee and Betty La Mae.
My cooking tragedies
The under-cooked turkey for Thanksgiving. It was almost thawed but not there and the leg area was still a little pink.

Maryann's Upside Down Rhubarb Cake
It was good but not a five star. My husband loved the edges. I thought it could have used more rhubarb. Next time I will double the rhubarb but keep the sugar the same. I like the tartness of the rhubarb but this lacked it.

Rhubarb Dumplings
My kids and husband loved it but I thought it was a bit sweet. I did make them on the grill in a cast iron skillet. I did it after our chicken was done so it had to stay on longer (and I didn't have a cover for it). I would make again but maybe cut the sugar down to 3/4 cup.

Rhubarb Crunch
You need to change it to 6 cups of rhubarb. I like to double the topping but cut the butter in half. it is a very wonderful crust with salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. I like to use this topping for apple crisp.
