Ultimate Cheese Ball

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2006
This is very similar to the recipe a coworker shared with me. I made it for a group and it went over very well. I used 2 packages of cream cheese, 2 green onions and 1 jar of dried beef. I served it in a bowl nested inside a larger bowl to hold 2 types of crackers (round butter crackers & thin square wheat crackers). It was gone in no time at all. Probably should double this one! Yummy!!

Lemon Coolers

These cookies turn out light and lemony. They are very refreshing. Getting the cake mix completely blended into the whipped topping is a challenge, but well worth it! Everyone who tried them, liked them.

Southwestern Turkey Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2005
This was very tasty! I omitted the tortillas altogether to make a low-carb version and it was still delicious. Only other change I made was only using a 4 oz can of green chilies. It tasted just like chicken enchiladas in sour cream sauce. Thanks for the great recipe, Carrie!

No Knead Refrigerator Rolls

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2005
These turned out pretty well. The 6.5 cups flour turned out to be too much for my dough. I should have stopped at 5.5 cups. It might have been due to the water not being warm enough for the yeast proofing. I didn't realize these would not brown much on top and so the bottoms got a bit darker than I wanted. They were still nice rolls. Will try again. Thanks for sharing, Debbie!

Southern Cornbread Dressing

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2005
This was a big hit at our Thanksgiving dinner. Everyone piled it high on their plates and then got seconds. I will definitely be using this recipe again. It was sooo delicious. I only used about half a loaf of white bread. I could not find a 16 oz cornbread mix. I used one Jiffy 8.5 oz mix and one Shawnee Mills 5 oz mix, made them separately, and then crumbled them into the bowl. Turned out great! Thanks, Holly, for sharing this awesome dressing recipe! It tastes as good as, if not better than, my mother-in-law's wonderful dressing!! When I made this recipe again, I made it the day ahead and placed it, covered, in the refrigerator. The next day, I baked it and it was wonderful! Being able to make it the day before made my Thanksgiving Day a bit less stressful!!

Better Than Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2005
Served this at Thanksgiving and did not reveal the true main ingredient until after my family ate it. None of us thought this pie lived up to its name. It was good, but I think it could have used a little more of the spices, especially cinnamon. Not a bad alternative, for a change of pace.

Bodacious Broccoli Salad

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2005
Tried this recipe for Thanksgiving. I left out the lemon juice as one reviewer had mentioned. It turned out delicious. I purchased 2 bunches of broccoli, but only used one. It was just right for the amount of dressing this made. I wish I'd doubled the recipe. Thanks for sharing this lovely salad, Cassandra!

Cranberry Salad I

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2005
Just wanted to warn others that when eating a cranberry salad, you must be careful not to eat or drink anything that is sweeter. I remember drinking sweetened iced tea with my mom's version of this salad (Cranberry Fluff Salad) and the salad tasting extremely bitter. I imagine that is why at least one reviewer thought that adding extra sugar did not help.

Grandma's Five Cup Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2005
I've always enjoyed this salad. I needed to take something to a church function and had everything except the mandarin oranges. I had a 10 oz jar of marachino cherries. I just drained them and added them to the mixture. It turned out great! This stuff is almost a dessert.

Three Ingredient Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2005
These are quite easy and very rich! I did as another reviewer suggested by adding 1/2 cup semi sweet chocolate morsels (mini size). I also did the crisscross pattern with a fork and they held the shape well. Since they're so rich, you don't need to eat many before your peanut butter craving is satisfied, which is a good thing. They're very high in fat.

Amazing Pork Tenderloin in the Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2005
For my 1st time cooking pork tenderloin, I think it was quite good. I took the suggestion of other reviews to use only 1/2 the onion soup mix and used low sodium soy sauce. With 2.4 lbs of tenderloin, it was still plenty salty to me, and I love salt. I did not have any red wine, but I mixed red wine vinegar and water together and it worked well. Thanks, LLUA, for sharing this easy recipe. It made a lovely main dish for Easter. This is excellent with the Strawberry Spinach Salad that is also on this website!

Strawberry Spinach Salad I

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2005
We really enjoyed this salad. I didn't have sesame seeds or paprika, but the dressing still turned out well. I didn't have the distilled white vinegar, but white wine vinegar worked fine. Thanks, Andrea, for an unusual, colorful & refreshing salad recipe!

Easy Biscuits

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2005
I was a bit disappointed with these biscuits. They were a little dry and didn't seem to have much flavor. My only modification was to use a tablespoon of baking powder, since I did not have any self-rising flour. These were easy to make, but lacking in flavor.

Easy Broccoli Quiche

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2005
This is a wonderful, easy recipe. I did make modifications. I did not use a crust, so I sprayed glass pie pans with canola oil non-stick spray, which worked great. I had to cut the fats, so I used fat-free milk (reduced to 1c) & cheese (1/2c mild cheddar & 1/2c mozzarella). I omitted the salt & pepper. I used 10 ounces of frozen spinach in place of broccoli, only used about 1/2c chopped onion and added a 7 ounce can of mushroom pieces. Sauted just like the recipe said. I mixed the sauted items in the bowl with the egg mixture before pouring into the pie pans. I used 2 pie pans and had 2 thin quiches, which cooked in 30 minutes. I made it again tonight, only in 1 pan, this time. It took about 40 mins to bake. Thanks Sara for a great recipe. I'll be using this often!! Tastes great served with salsa!
