About this Cook
I am a single mama to a 2-year-old little girl. I am so lucky that I work at home and am able to stay at home with my daughter. I love being a mom and taking care of my house and being all domestic. Cooking and baking are my hobbies, but I also love to read, knit, and crochet.
My favorite things to cook
I love comfort food. Since I am not good at making big meals with lots of side dishes and stuff, I'm all about meals that cook up all in one big pot. I love casseroles, one-dish meals, soups, and stews.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I come from a long line of great cooks, but some of my favorites are the traditional German recipes handed down from my grandmother and great-grandmother.
My cooking triumphs
Last Christmas I successfully baked eight cheesecakes to give away to my family and friends as gifts. It was a lot of work, but they all turned out great.
My cooking tragedies
So many. A few years ago I tried to pull off a well-intentioned but not very well-planned Mother's Day brunch for the women in my family. I had a really hard time timing things so they would all get done at the same time, so many of my dishes were cold by the time I got everything on the table, and my brunch was finally served more than two hours late.

Fruit Dip II
My family has made this recipe for years. We use it as the frosting on a cranberry salad. Delicious!

Sweet Potato Casserole IV
So very, very good! The only changes I made was to add some cinnamon to both the sweet potato mixture and the topping, and I left out the pecans because I didn't have any. The whole family loved it, and the leftovers were great for breakfast the next morning!

Lemon Zucchini Bread
This is the best zucchini bread I have ever had. The only changes I made was to use 1/4 cup white sugar and 1/2 cup brown sugar and I used half all-purpose and half whole wheat flour. It is excellent, thanks!
