About this Cook
I've been a wife for 19 yrs. A mother for 18. We have 3 children(18, 14, 2). Started, spitted, and sputtered the first couple of yrs in the kitchen. Then just kind of took off and haven't stopped evolving. Hoping to take my joy of experimenting into the healthy lifestyle arena.
My favorite things to cook
I love cooking and baking everything!! The joy I see in peoples eyes is very rewarding for me. My favorite thing to do is walk into my kitchen and not have a plan and put together unusual things. Some of my best meals have come from doing this. Italian meals are very satisfying.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My Grandma was Serbian and I loved when the ladies from church(all Serbs) would get together and cook traditional foods for the congregation. We have moved from the area so now, I get together with my mom occasional and we'll do pierogi or polichinka.
My cooking triumphs
My meatballs!!! I am married into a very Italian family. I was told by my Father in Law that I make German meatballs. That's why they never tasted right. So I set out to find my inner Italian. I found her and then some! Now my meatballs are the talk of the family.
My cooking tragedies
Sheperds pie. That is a joke that my huband will never let me forget. It was my Grandma's recipe and to this day I still don't know what I did wrong to that thing. My husband took one bite, pulled my on his lap, kissed me passionately, and gently told my never to make that for him again. :-)))))

Zucchini Cornbread Casserole
I have made the recipe 3x this summer. It is pretty yummy. I cut back on the cheese after the first time. I am not a huge fan of Cheddar(it has its places). I just didn't think the recipe needed all of it. I also added cooked and crumbled bacon in it once also. That was real yummy.

Connie's Zucchini 'Crab' Cakes
This recipe has become a summer tradition in our family. Though we would never presume to think these could ever replace crab cakes, these are just too yummy not to make time and time again.Thank you, Patti Jo, for submitting yet another fantastic way to use what my garden abundantly produces!

Cheese Straws
I am rating the idea of this recipe. I was going on a wine tour and needed a more grown up taste. I used 1/2 C butter, 3 oz. cream cheese,2 1/2 cups extra sharp cheedar, 1/2 c crubmled blue cheese, 1/2 tsp garlic powder,1-2 tsp hot sauce, 1/2 tsp salt. I rolled them into about 3/4 in balls and flattened with a floured juice glass. Sprinkeled with smoked paprika and baked for 8 minute. It's kind of like a grown up goldfish. They went well with the dried fruit and almonds I packed for the limo.
