Mushroom Burger Stew

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2009
For a burger stew, this was not bad. I did alter it though. I added beef boullion to it and a couple stalks of celery and a wee bit of liquid smoke. Added some corn starch to thicken it as I like thick stews. Left out the mushrooms, only because I didn't happen to have any. I think this would have been really bland if I hadn't of made my changes, but it turned out well! The husband and kid liked it ... so all is well!

Sausage Crescent Rolls

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2009
YUMMY! This is soooo good! My slight alterations? I used 1/3 less fat cream cheese and reduced fat crescents. Also I used half spicy and half regular sausage (husband is not a huge fan of spicy) And they were sooooooo good. I am going to make another batch and see how well they hold up to a freezer for a quick fix meal!

Chewy Chocolate Peanut Bars

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2009
Not so great. Sorry, but I have to agree with another rating on here that states that these taste kind of bland. I didn't follow the recipe to a T because I had no peanuts.. so I just increased my oatmeal by 1/2cup and put in 3/4 c. of coconut... I don't think that should have made any difference in how they tasted... but I'm still going with bland. I will stick with no-bake chocolate oatmeal cookies next time, made with cocoa instead of chips. Also... I would definately not boil this for 5 minutes like it says.. I was at a minute when it started scorching, even though I was stirring constantly. I added a tablespoon of butter to get it to stop scorching but pulled it off after only boiling a minute and a half.. and that was at less than medium heat. Will not make these again.

Skillet Pork Chops with Potatoes and Onion

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2009
Good recipe! Easy, simple, yummy! I would follow what others have said and use less salt.. or even leave it out next time. Also, I did cook my potatoes for a bit in a separate skillet while the chops were browning.. however.. I think next time I won't do that.. They turned out a little too tender... but they were still quite tasty!

Lemon Blueberry Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2009
This is the best! I didn't have any lemons so I used Minute Maids lemon juice in it(comes in a box in the freezer section next to the frozen concentrates). I happened to have a grapefruit on hand and used the zest off of it. (citrus is citrus) It turned out wonderful!! My husband and son were very disappointed that it didn't make two loaves. Sooo.. I am currently making another loaf! (Only this time I bought some lemons!)

Flourless Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: May 31, 2009
VERY simple recipe! A breeze from start to finish.. and the taste?? SOO yummy! As one person commented, they are soo sweet that you will drink a large glass of water afterwards, but I dont' mind that. I think that next time, I will try to either cut the sugar by at least 1/4 cup, or do as some others suggested and use half brown sugar instead of regular sugar and see if that doesn't make them slightly less sweet. Regardless of that, I will be keeping this recipe and will use it again!

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2009
This is awesome! I've made it twice now and haven't changed anything, except to add carrots to it.. which is good. .and I didn't add more than 1/3 cup chopped up. I did put a bit more pepper in, but that is perhaps just my taste.. At any rate, this is excellent and I will be using it from now on

Pork Steaks

Yummy! This is sooo good! I used a small regular onion instead of green onions, and I added about a tablespoon of Teriykia sauce. I also used the reduced sodium soy sauce instead of regular. I will make this again, and I think I will also try it with chicken breast.

Cheddar Baked Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2008
My family loved this recipe and have requested it again! I did make a few modifications. I was out of milk, so I took the advice of another on here and instead of milk and egg, I used sour cream. I was also out of bread crumbs and Crisp rice cereal, so I substituted stuffing mix that I ground into crumbs and some corn chex that I crumbled a bit so that there wasn't any big chunks. I cooked these for about 45 minutes thanks to the advice of another on here, and they turned out perfect! Moist chicken and a nice crunchy coating! MMMmmMMMmmmm MM! (Don't tell my mother, but it is much better than her baked chicken!)

Blueberry Gelatin Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2008
My mother has made this recipe for years and has always made it with cherry gelatin, which is how I make it as well. Also... after putting the topping on, we put about 1/4 to 1/2 cup chopped walnuts .. just sprinkle them right on! This salad is an Easter tradition for us. Not sure why, but it is!

Aunt Fannie's Dinner

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2008
I have made this a couple of times now and my family loves it! I am not a big fan of corn mixed into anything, but my husband and some love it, and I found that I actually liked the corn added in as well. Gave it that extra "umph". The only altering I have done is mixed in a can of Rotel (tomatoes with green chili peppers) because I was out of plain canned tomatoes and it was even yummier! I have also put shredded cheddar over the top and got rave reviews as well. To sum it up.. there are never leftovers when I make this and that speaks well for any recipe!

Easy Peach Crisp I

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2008
Terrific recipe! I have made this a couple of times, however, I have made a few changes. I put about 1/3 of the cake mix on top of the peaches. I mixed the butter (not a margarine fan here) into the other 2/3 of the cake mix and then put it on top of the peaches. Also, I didn't use a cup of sugar and cinnamon. I felt like it was going to be sweet enough as it was, so I just sprinkled a small amount of cinnamon-sugar across the top and called it good! It turned out great! I have also made this with cherry pie filling and added some crushed pineapple (more of a dump cake recipe.) Haven't tried the apple pie filling and spice cake like some suggest but I am going too! At any rate.. this recipe is a keeper!

No-Bake Peanut Butter Cookies III

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2007
A local grocery store here used to sell some cookies similar to these and so I decided to try and make them myself...Sooooo glad I tried this recipe! It is even better than the ones our grocer sold. They are moist and soooo good. I sometimes add up to a cup more of oatmeal to them and it never seems to make them dry or anything. I have also added a couple tablespoons of wheat germ to make them even more healthy and had great results! Thanks for sharing your recipe!

Corn Potato Pancakes

These are great! My mother used to make something similiar only more basic. Hers used just regular canned corn (drained) and eggs and left over mashed potatoes. While I loved hers and they were nice and simple, I found these to be 10 times better!

Charley's Slow Cooker Mexican Style Meat

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2006
If I could give this more than 5 stars I would! This is the best recipe ever for meat! I have used both beef and chicken and have had awesome results with both. I sometimes vary the recipe and it still turns out awesome. I have used a can of Rotelle in it several times instead of the green chilis and the results are just as good! I love that I get alot of juices off of this. I drain them off and use them for a soup the next day. I add a can of black beans and some chopped cooked chicken and a bit more water and tada! Awesome soup! The recipe itself makes really great sandwiches and unbelievable good enchiladas! My family absolutely loves this and so do I!

French Toast Waffles

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2006
Wow! I just got a 'new' waffle maker and decided to try something other than mom's old family recipe. I tried two different recipes.. this one.. and a more traditional one. After eating this one, my family told me not to even bother with making any other recipes from now on! This was SO good.. and smelled WONDERFUL! The batter is much thinner than I expected for a waffle... but it cooked up great. I will definately be putting this with other favorite recipes! My only complaint would be that it doesn't make that many! I will be doubling my recipe from now on. Awesome!

Funky Frito Fruckies

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2005
Wow! I have made these two years in a row at Christmas time and they disappear faster than anything else! I use a bag of milk chocolate chips on them instead of candy bars and I have found if you crush the chips up first they tend to turn out better! YUMMY!!!(Just don't say the name of these very fast.... sometimes that comes out soooo wrong!)
