About this Cook
I'm a high schooler who likes to bake for my Latin class and my friends' birthdays. I'm not too good at baking, but I like the chemistry/mathematical aspects of recipes. It's all like a huge experiment and math problem rolled into one!
My favorite things to cook
I'm a very competitive rower, as is my mother, so the things I cook for myself and/or my family are generally pretty healthy. Favorite dishes: mango salsa, apple bran muffins, oatmeal cookies, tandoori chicken, soda bread, pumpkin muffins, smoothies, and any type of vegetable (except okra, spinach, and cabbage).
My favorite family cooking traditions
My dad and I make a turkey for Thanksgiving and Christmas. His mother taught him how, and I'll probably teach my partner and/or kids when I'm older!
My cooking triumphs
Not too many yet. I made peppermint candy for Valentine's Day this year, and that turned out way better than expected.
My cooking tragedies
No really bombed things. Yet.

Cinnamon Cookies I
I loved these, especially paired with fresh berries. They were a hit with the whole family. The only issue is that these cookies should be taken out of the oven before they're brown, since they are burnt at that point. I baked mine 9:30 at 325 degrees.

Mocha Meringues
These came out of the oven flat and deflated looking. The flavor was excellent, but the texture left something to be desired. They didn't dissolve in the mouth the way meringues usually do, and were fairly hard. I'll make these again to see whether my hunch about beating them more is true, but will also try other recipes.
