Chilled pastry cream
Unbaked pie crust
Fried Wontons
About this Cook
Who says college students eat nothing but cup noodles and take-out? Well, okay, so that was essentially me a year ago--but not anymore! Now I'm making chicken pot pies and my own wontons. I never realized how much money I could save by making everything myself. :) It also doesn't hurt that I'm apparently not a complete disaster in the kitchen.
My favorite things to cook
Anything that involves a flour is greatness: baking, frying, whatever. Plus points if I get to use my brand new rolling pin and pastry cloth.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom is a really good cook, but she belongs to that school of cooking that doesn't believe in measuring anything. Me, I'm more of a "leveling the spoon" type of cook.
My cooking triumphs
My strawberry and chicken pot pies came out really well, and so did my wonton wrappers!
My cooking tragedies
Er, I've officially given up on crepes.

Garlic Chicken
A much healthier alternative to fried chicken. I used panko crumbs instead of regular bread crumbs and ate the chicken with tonkatsu sauce and white rice, yum!

Pastry Cream
Wonderful recipe. This makes a perfect filling for the Cream Puff Shells (also in allrecipes).

Cream Puff Shells
Excellent recipe. The shells came out beautiful and tasted like something out of a bakery. I filled them with the Pastry Cream (also in allrecipes) and topped the puffs with a bit of leftover strawberry glaze (from Strawberry Pie II). They made for a great dessert.
