About this Cook
I have been cooking for myself and my family since I was about 11 years old, when my first recipie turned out. I made a fantastic 2-loaves of bread, just by following a recipie. I was so proud of myself and have not stopped since.
My favorite things to cook
Breads, cookies, casseroles, slow-cooking, and experiment with low-fat recipies. In this chapter of my life and turning my efforts into a healthier lifestyle I have discovered the scientest in me to become a healthier cook. Gives a whole new light in the phrase "you can never stop learning".
My favorite family cooking traditions
I always do Thanksgiving dinner. Being the better cook of the family it is one of the loving things I do for them. I prepare everything, but do allow my children to bring those horrible snacks that come in bags if they must and bring a relish tray. We also get together the week before Christmas and make cookies, candies and snack mixes, making it a great family bonding time.
My cooking triumphs
My first ever baked loaf bread at age 11. My first cheesecake at age 25. Becoming a cook for a childcare center and learning to cook for the masses. My Grandma teaching me how to cook candy and fudge at age 13. DISCOVERING MAGIC COOKIE BARS at age 12. To me that is the most perfect tasting cookie on the planet. :-)
My cooking tragedies
LOL forgetting the bananas in three banana splits on the first day of a new job at an ice cream parlor. The endless breads of trying to add to many ingredients, that come out like wet playdough. My newest attempts of lowfat low calorie recipies, that most of the time taste like something the dog would throw up. Being middle age there are many, many, many learning events in my life. I have loved all of them and will never give up.
