I'm a student and practicing cook making the most of a tiny apartment kitchen.
My favorite things to cook
I love cooking simple things, mostly because my energy is limited and our apartment has no dishwasher! Making too many dishes can be hellish when you have to wash them all by hand, but I digress.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Unfortunately, I don't have any, my mother wasn't much of a cook so any traditions I develop will have to be passed on personally. I hope grabbing the pot from the oven with your bare hands one too many times is a tradition?
My cooking triumphs
My first ever homemade Thanksgiving dinner was NOT terrible due to the sheer force of my will to make it passable. My second Thanksgiving was even better. I'm enjoying being on a roll with this!
My cooking tragedies
Ha, too many to name. I am no experienced cook, that's for sure. One time that comes to mind is when I tried to make matzo ball soup. The stock and matzo balls were all homemade but I made the mistake of not cooling the mixture or running the stock through cheesecloth, so there was just a mass of puffy matzo meal floating through bone-laden liquid. The worst part was it would've been perfect if I hadn't let those two things slip me.
