About this Cook
I work as a Respiratory Therapist at a hospital, with particular interests in neonatal/pediatrics and critical care. I spend my days off relaxing and cooking. I wouldn't consider myself a "fancy" cook, but more of an open-minded homestyle cook.
My favorite things to cook
I don't even know where to start! I guess I like to cook old things in new ways, always with the goal of improving upon the last attempt. I am more of a cook than a baker, but have been dabbling in some baking as of late.

Oatmeal Baked Chicken
I cooked it as something different on the spur of the moment. My 8-year-old daughter and my wife were both skeptical (at best). My daughter, after taking a bite, was the first to exclaim, "this is great!" and then made mention of the meal several other times tonight. My wife and I were both pleasantly surprised at the vibrant taste, and what the oatmeal did to texture more than taste. CHANGES WE MADE: We decreased the amount cumin ever so slightly, used seasoned salt in place of the salt, and omitted the butter for health purposes. This is an exceptional variation on boring baked chicken, and we'll have it again many times in the future.

Big Al's K.C. Bar-B-Q Sauce
Without a doubt the best barbecue sauce recipe I've been able to find. I added 1/4 teaspoon dry mustard, and 1/8 cup worcestshire sauce to make it fit my taste a little better, but very, very good.

BBQ Pork for Sandwiches
I have made pulled pork dozens of times, but have never added beef broth. This makes a WORLD of difference - absolutely exceptional recipe. I didn't use ribs, but used an inexpensive pork roast, with the fat trimmed, and it was still very tender.
