I'm just entering into my thirties and am trying to be more adventurous and more healthy. I've been cooking since I can remember, although back when I started it was tacos, mashed potatoes, etc. Typical foods a 12 year old could cook when Mom & Dad were at work.
My favorite things to cook
We eat almost only ethnic foods here - rarely do we eat steak, burgers or the like. I love to cook Indian food as my husband is Indian and I love to cook provincial French food as I lived in France for a while.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I don't know. My Mom never made the same dish twice, so I can't really remember anything she cooked. My Dad was a master at kitchen screw-ups - grilled cheese sans cheese and the like. Food has always been good in our families but maybe not memorable?
My cooking triumphs
I'd say I'm most proud of having learned to cook Indian food well enough that when we have Indian friends over they ask for recipes or tips. That's a big thing for a girl from the Dairy state!
My cooking tragedies
Before being a Mommy, I had lots and lots of time to make great meals. It's obviously harder with a child (and one on the way), so I tried our crockpot and a recipe here. My husband hated it and it's the only thing in seven years that he has ever hated that I've made. I tried a few other crockpot recipes and he didn't really care for them either. So, I guess the crockpot is a tragedy for us - now I use it to keep soup warm or to simmer things that need to simmer, but never to actually cook!
