About this Cook
I've been cooking for a long time, but I am by no means an expert. I don't know it all yet, and I'm still learning.
My favorite things to cook
I love to make complicated desserts. Cookies, candies, Italian food, vegetarian food, you name it, if it presents a challenge, I'll make it. Also, I will try out new "manly" recipes for my fiance. I've been cooking with more meat than I have in a long time.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Casseroles... Utah makes a lot of casseroles... my favorite? Just the ones my mom makes... I don't do casseroles! The only cooking tradition I still continue is making tomato soup and tuna sandwiches like my grandma taught me.
My cooking triumphs
Anything that I don't burn? I love to make food that cheers other people. If it makes someone glad I came over, then it served it's purpose. And making the best creme brulee and barbecued ribs ever.
My cooking tragedies
Falling asleep when something is in the oven? Thank goodness my neighbor stopped by to turn off my oven.

Easy Slow Cooker French Dip
We loved this, but we made a few changes based on what we had on hand. We used cooking wine instead of beer and topped each sandwich with sauteed peppers and Swiss cheese. Delicious!

Chicken Tortilla Soup V
My sister made this for my baby shower and it was the first soup to disappear! I loved it! When I made it later at home for my husband, I did make a few changes based on what we had on hand: I used homemade salsa with nice huge chunks and shredded chicken. I added more chicken broth and some black beans (have used pinto, too) that were not from a can, since I knew my husband would need more in his soup. We've also added diced chilies and roasted sweet red bell pepper with great results. Very good soup as is, and versatile enough to be great with any changes you make.

Homemade Black Bean Veggie Burgers
I really liked these! My vegan parents did too with the omission of the egg. Even my carnivorous husband enjoyed them.
