I am a mother of 2 wonderful energetic boys age 6 and 8. i do not have alot of free time but enjoy cooking and they love to help me. i love to show them the right way to cook and i also teach the special needs kids i work with things to cook. i like to read, play on the computer, search for new recipes and make up my own, most coming out pretty good. i do most of my cooking and planning on the weekend and make snacks, desserts during the week. I usually make alot of desserts from scratch due to my sons allergies, and he also knows that these are "his" special foods and loves to share with others, that makes him feel like he is not different when it comes to food especially at school
My favorite things to cook
i love to cook desserts, main meals and anything that can please others. i have a hard time finding new recipes since my youngest is intollerant to milk soy and eggs, so alot of experimenting on my part,i love to make new exciting recipes that every can have haveing a child that is lactose intolerant (allergic) and also to eggs makes alot of meals hard especially those that kids approve of
My favorite family cooking traditions
My favorite family memory to date is making cookies and fudge with my grammy during the holidays, my kids are a little too young for the fudge but we have started on the cookie tradition, and they love it from getting items to mixing to baking to frosting and of course eating, even giving away to family and friends
My cooking triumphs
i love making up recipes or vamping others recipes for my taste, i do not use alot of store bought boxes due to sons intolerance. so i have to think and plan extra to have things come out well, most of the time everyone loves it but there have been a couple times my hubby requested i not make that again, so i would say my best is finding a recipe we love adn make it so my youngest can eat it and we still enjoy it
My cooking tragedies
not many but there have been a few, one i loved hubby hated, it was just groud beef, pasta noodles and pork and beans, cook burger and pasta mix all together adn add other seasonings (molassis, brown sugar, chopped onions what ever you like) my friends loved it and hubby asked my not to make it again the other night steak in the crock pot (it was too dry)
