About this Cook
I'm a SAHM of 2 wonderful boys. I also have 3 step-sons. As you can imagine, it is hard to find recipes that all the boys like. I have had much success with the Allrecipes website because the recipes are easy to follow and use ingredients that are usually on hand.
My favorite things to cook
I like to cook most any type of food. I am not a big fan of baking....it requires a different kind of patience and expertise.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We love to make HUGE Thanksgiving Day meals. Turkey, Ham, dressing, stuffing, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, macaroni, pies etc.... Also, I love to get my kids involved in the kitchen. I love the conversations that just happen over a new recipe....it seems to be a lot easier to talk while you are focusing on a new recipe.
My cooking triumphs
I'm not a very good baker so when I make a great dessert I always feel triumphant. I've done several speciality B-day cakes for my kids that turned out very well, such as a Big Bird cake and a lost world/dinosaur cake.
My cooking tragedies
Oh, there's just too many to count!!!! But that's what happens when you are willing to try anything on your unsuspecting dinner guests! LOL

Firecracker Grilled Alaska Salmon
Very very good! I expected this to be spicier and was a little worried that it might be too spicy. However, it was perfect. I could have handled it even a little more spicy. I marinated about 4.5 hrs. Salmon is great just as it is, but this is a delicious alternative to plain grilled salmon. I made it for dinner with a friend over the weekend. And I've already went shopping for more salmon to make it this week for my family! I followed all the ingredients exactly b/c I happened to have it all on hand. I did bake in the oven rather than grilling b/c it was 35degrees & I can't work the grill anyway!

Chocolate and Fruit Trifle
So Good!!! I had extra devils food cake left over from a huge birthday cake that I made....all the extra pieces I had carved off before icing. Hated to waste all that cake so I came here to find a recipe. I had never made a trifle before. Very easy to make. I didn't use the kiwi, just strawberries & raspberries. Guests LOVED it and took some home....which was great b/c this recipe makes a TON! The pudding/whipped cream filling is delicious, I added a teaspoon of vanilla flavoring to mine and used cheesecake flavored pudding. Make extra filling for sure, I didn't have enough and I should have taken the advice of other reviewers to make extra. Great recipe, I will be using this again and again...especially for potlucks or family dinners.

Chunky Chicken Noodle Soup
Excellant recipe. I have tried the "Awesome Chicken Noodle Soup" from this site also. I just went with this one today...seemed easier to prepare. Very good flavor, simple ingredients, hearty comforting meal. I did add minced fresh garlic to the veggies as a personal preference. And the next time I make this I will use more vegetables, also a personal preference. I made my own broth by boiling chicken breasts(boneless, skinless is what I had on hand--would be better w/ the bone-in of course) with carrots, onions, celery and garlic. Then drain the vegetables out & use the broth for this soup.
