New things. I love trying new recipes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I am starting my own.
My cooking triumphs
I cook from scratch. Most everything I make actually turns out really good.
My cooking tragedies
I tried to make mussels once. It smelled like old dirty feet. No one would try them. We ended up going out to dinner that night.

Truck-Stop Buttermilk Pancakes
I do not understand the great reviews. I followed this recipe exactly and got very bland pancakes that had an eggy texture. I will not make these again, I would have to change to much.

Buttery Soft Pretzels
These had a great texture and I will make these again. With that said, these were awfully sweet. I will be cutting the sugar down the next time I make them.

Baked Oatmeal II
First off, let me say that the serving size is about right on, at least in my house. I have 5 kids, three of which are just hitting their teenage years. They eat more than a five year old would. So, I doubled the recipe for my family of 7. Things that I changed based on other reviews: 1. I used half the amount of sugar. I agree that 1 Cup is way to much. 2. I used half the amount of butter and added in 1/4 Cup apple sauce instead. I like the taste of butter in my oatmeal, but I think this can be accomplished with a little bit instead of a lot. I am giving this 4 stars because of the changes I had to make. It was a very good recipe, just needed a little less sweetener.
