I've been baking since I was little, but not seriously until I was in my preteen years. I absolutely love baking, and am hoping to go into a Baking and Pastry Arts Management program. I'd love to work at a small cafe/coffee shop.
I also enjoy cooking, but definitely not as much as baking, I'm still only just getting into cooking.
My favorite things to cook
Cookies are something I definitely bake at least once a week. I also enjoy making bars, squares, and brownies. I love making cheesecakes too, along with cobblers and crisps. I enjoy vegan baking also. I'd like to expand my baking skills, I'd love to be able to make croissants, and things like eclairs, cream puffs, doughnuts.
I cook a lot of shepherd's pies, lasagnas, stir frys, chicken, and casseroles.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Pancakes and turkey dinners are a definite family tradition. I used to use this flour covered, old pancake recipe that my mom gave me, from my grandma. My family loves pancakes. And we always make turkey dinners for Thanksgiving and Christmas, and when I moved out I started making my own turkey dinners.
My cooking triumphs
Of course, the time I made a turkey dinner all by myself is way up on that list. Baking-wise, I'd say probably the time I made a cheesecake for the first time, or the time I made a really big pink castle cake for my niece.
My cooking tragedies
Reading a recipe wrong, and putting in about 1/3rd cup of salt, instead of 1/3 tsp. Those pancakes definitely didn't taste good. That was my first baking tragedy, when I was about 13 or so.
