My favorite family cooking traditions
Very, very German family, so I make a lot of stick-to-your-ribs wholesome dishes. My favorites include spaetzle, wiener schnitzel, potato dumplings (a little like spaetzle I suppose), strudeln/struesel, bierbroet, und pumpernickel breads
My cooking triumphs
I make a mean stuffed mushroom with white wine, shephards' pie, anything really coooking with wine I'm good at, oh! and fudge. good at fudge.
My cooking tragedies
Haha...ok, when I was 9, I wanted to make a coffee cake. So I took my mom's coffee beans and chopped them with a knife and threw them in my coffeecake batter. It was the crunchiest cake I have ever made :).
Also tried making a "camping" cake once, and thought it would be a good idea to have a blue jello lake in the middle. That went over well.
Oh, the list could go on for miles. I've had a lot of fun in my kitchen!
