About this Cook
I am a self-taught cook inspired by my grandmothers and a couple friends who ROCK in the kitchen (although I've taken a few cooking classes just to nail some basics). I used to think cooking wasn't "cool," but nothing beats a beautiful, homemade meal and the satisfaction of creating something wonderful for friends and family. I enjoy the learning process and I have come to rely on allrecipes big time! I have learned so much here and hope to become a strong contributor as well.
My favorite things to cook
Healthful, nourishing meals - vegetarian, vegan, fish dishes, chicken, soups, chili, salads. I focus on holistic health!

Chicken Tortilla Soup V
My husband LOVED it and I thought it was terrific too. I did add black beans and that was really nice. Overall, a really palatable flavor.

Baked Potato Soup
I've made it twice - once with the cream, once without; both times with vegetable stock instead of chicken stock; both times without the bacon (I tried turkey bacon on the first attempt, but it didn't work so I started over without it). It is excellent. Everyone I made it for loved it. I agree with other reviewers that it is heavy on the basil, so I would cut it in half. It is a very yummy, very easy soup which has a sophisticated taste! It has even more of a kick without the cream, but it was really, really good as a non-dairy, vegetarian soup.

Momma's Sloppy Joes
definitely add the onion (I used a whole one) and the dashes of worchestershire. also, i did not use sugar and it was very sweet with a combo of agave nectar-sweetened organic ketchup and regular hines (we had just enough for one cup when we combined the last of the two!). i used ground turkey. yum!
