Detroit Hot Honey Wings

Reviewed: May 10, 2009
This made delicious, sticky, spicy wings! My wings turned out a tiny bit dry, but I think that's probably because they weren't very big and didn't have lot of fat on them. Next time I will brush them lightly with some oil before grilling. I used tabasco instead of U.S.A. style hot sauce, and the smokey flavor worked out well. I also pulverized two cloves of garlic with a mortar and pestle, and stirred that into the glaze. I think it needs an acid, so next time I'll add some lemon juice to the glaze as well.

Coq Au Vin, My Way

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2007
When I decided to try this recipe I already knew that it wasn't " coq au vin" - cream and cheese and tomatoes do not belong in that dish. But it looked interesting enough, so I gave it a go. Sadly, it just doesn't stand up to the classic. I missed the celery, the tomatoes did not add much, and I did not enjoy the combination of the cheese with the chicken. I think I will stick with a more traditional recipe.

Garden Fresh Tomato Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2007
A good, basic tomato soup recipe that I closely resembles my mom's. I assumed the cloves to be cloves of garlic, and 4 cloves (while more than i would usually add) were not too overpowering. I skip the roux and thicken the soup with a dash of cream instead. I also add a small splash of balsamic vinegar for added sweetness, some dried oregano at the beginning and top with fresh parsley before serving.

French Onion Soup Gratinee

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2007
This was a great French onion soup. I made it because it most closely resembles a recipe I used to have from friends in France, and this soup tasted very much like the soup I remember being served at their house. I used beer instead of red wine, because that was what I happened to have on hand. I also used far, far less cheese, but it was plenty. I rubbed the croutons with a clove of fresh garlic before placing them on the soup, which added some extra flavor. The portion size of this recipe is HUGE. I made half the recipe for the two of us, and still have leftovers for tomorrow. That's not a bad thing though! I will definitely use this recipe again.

These are delicious, if a bit sweet for my taste. I will definitely make these again, but with a little less sugar.

Seasonal Crudites with Hummus and Baba Ganoush

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2006
Great recipe! I roasted a bulb of garlic and a red bellpepper together with the eggplant, and used them in the hummus. i used less tahini (the fat content freaks me out), and both the hummus and baba ganoush were excellent.

Fish Tacos

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2005
Great recipe! My fish tacos turned out perfectly, just the way I used to buy them in San Diego! Prep time was much less than listed, though. I was done in 10 minutes, plus 5 minutes cooking time. I will definetely make these again.
