Been married for 15 years and a mother of 2, my girl Tryshna is 13 and my boy, Tyrell is 7. I'm a Filipina who emigrated here in the US in '89. I always have a love for baking since I was a little girl and still remembered my first attempt in baking a chocolate cake, which was a disaster! From thereon I gradually expand my know-how to baking cookies, muffins, cupcakes and scones. My family have been my guinea pigs in testing all the different recipes I get from ALLRECIPES. So far, my kids are the most appreciative with my efforts!
My favorite things to cook
I like to try and experiment different dishes, Italian and Mexican foods being my favorites! But BAKING IS MY FIRST LOVE!! When I'm in the mood, I usually bake the whole day with large batches of cookies and scones. Then I share these with my siblings and they always ask for a REPEAT!
My cooking tragedies
So many, but I like to share my most recent one-- I decided to bake the Banana Banana Bread (found in this site with great reviews) because I had a lot of overripe bananas and thought to double the recipe. This called for 4 cups of flour and unknowingly used the 1/2 cup measurement. When I mixed the batter, it wasn't getting sticky and was thinking that I happened to use a lot of bananas. To my horror while washing, I saw my mistake that I used the wrong measuring cup. It was already too late for me to pull out the bread from the oven, they ended up straight to the garbage!!! Lesson learned, to always check if I'm using the right measuring utensils.
