About this Cook
I'm a 24 year old, stay-at-home mom to a wonderful three year old girl & one on the way. My husband works from home which is a wonderful experience having him so available for our daughter throughout the day. I absolutely love to cook, and thoroughly enjoy looking up new recipes. My daughter is a picky eater sometimes, so when I find a recipe she likes I make enough to be bought at Costco lol.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake. Cookies, cakes, bread; it doesn't matter. If it goes in the oven, I'm all over it.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We haven't started any reall cooking traditions in my married family yet, but the best memory I have as a child was getting to lick the bowl after my mom put the cake mix in the pan to bake. My sister and I would take turns spooning out what was left in the mixing bowl. Even my mom would join us, making it that much more special.
My cooking triumphs
I made salmon patties from scratch for the first time last night actually... They turned out great. I left out the vinegar, mainly because I don't care much for it. And my husband said he liked them better than his mom's (and it was her recipe lol).
My cooking tragedies
The first time I cooked with garlic was a disaster. Please, when cooking with garlic, know the difference between a clove and a head. I knew no such difference and instead of using 2 cloves of garlic in the recipe, I used 2 HEADS of garlic! The recipe tasted fine, but the house smelled of garlic for a month. Not a plesant thing to smell after the first few days.

Salmon with Lemon and Dill
This was a huge hit with my husband and he's not a big fan of baked fish... The dill was a bit much, we plan on using less next time, but it was a lovely presentation with some white rice (which I made into cereal for our toddler who doesn't eat fish). It is really easy to make; it came out perfectly and I've never cooked fish before. We plan on using the lemon/butter/dill as a marinade for grilling too. It's really that good.

Perfect Apple Pie
I have no idea what I did wrong... I'm always careful to follow new recipes to the "T"... But... My crust was so dry it was falling apart. I had to piece it together to cover the bottom of my pie pan, and it looked horrible when I put it on the top in pieces... The filling tastes fine, but the crust even after baking was not what it should have been... I will use this recipe again, but maybe just buy a crust. My husband loved it, but thought I was going crazy crying over a pie crust lol... Good recipe, I just can't figure it out.
