Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2009
Easy and absolutely terrific! We did add cinnamon to taste, but otherwise stayed true to the recipe. We used the "Butter Flaky Pie Crust" recipe from Allrecipes, and it came out great. The pie was devoured within about 16 hours, so we made another the next day. A delicious and simple recipe for pie novices.

Butter Flaky Pie Crust

I had never attempted pie before, let alone crust. This was so easy and worked perfectly with Grandma Ople's Apple Pie. It was so good, in fact, that we did it again the very next day.

I had never made fish before, I had never broiled before, I hate mayo, and this was fantastic.

Greek Green Beans

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2009
This is very much like one of my favorite recipes (just like Mom's). I use much less oil, and saute onions (1 small, chopped) and garlic (2 or 3 cloves). Then I add salt, pepper, and a ton of oregano, and when the onions are soft and clear, I add the green beans. Once they're soft-ish, I add 1 can (28 oz) diced tomatoes and let it cook. Then add a handful of sugar. After awhile, take the lid off to allow the sauce to condense. And that's about it. My favorite side ever!

Tomato Chicken Parmesan

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2009
I'm still new to cooking, but this got rave reviews! I've made this twice now. I used mozzarella instead of monterey jack cheese, and I made marinara sauce using Allrecipes' Best Marinara Sauce Yet. My one suggestion is to hammer the chicken breasts so they're all the same thickness. Maybe this is a given for people who actually know how to cook, but someone had to tell me.

Best Marinara Sauce Yet

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2008
I don't cook often. And by "often" I mean "ever." When my mom asked me to make chicken parmesan tonight, my first thought was "Wha?" But then I figured I could use this opportunity to demonstrate my culinary prowess (it's never exercised but I'm convinced it exists). So I did the whole thing from scratch, using this recipe for the sauce. The only difference was that I didn't have fresh parsley, so I used 2 tbsp (all I had) of the dried stuff. It was easy and fantastic! My mom asked for the recipe, but I'm pretty sure she still doesn't believe that I made it from scratch. Thank you to whoever posted this recipe! I'll definitely use it again.

I had never made a cocktail before (eyeballing a rum and coke doesn't count, does it?). This was very easy, and my friends pounded them.

Green Bean and Mushroom Medley

This was fantastic! I'm not much of a cook, but my friends were all pitching in to make dinner, so I had to do something. This was so easy and so freaking good! I added some rosemary and thyme, just 'cause it was there. I was so proud of myself, it was ridiculous.

Stovetop Granola

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2007
My friends absolutely LOVE this! I usually add another fistful of brown sugar, and a couple of dollops of honey...well, I'm pretty liberal with everything, so it evens out. It's even better the next day; more granola-y after it's had time to settle, or something. Anyway, this is fantastic!
