I am a full time step-mom to two kids that live with my husband and myself. I manage a lighting store to pay the bills. What I really enjoy is being at home and taking care of my family.
My favorite things to cook
My favorite things to cook are soups and slow cooker recipes. I do enjoy baking, but I think I enjoy the decorating part of baking more than the actual cooking of it.
My favorite family cooking traditions
LOL! I cook and they eat - what a tradition!! My grandmother really instilled alot of cooking traditions in my family. She is the cooker. I hope one day to be half as good as she is.
My cooking triumphs
Conquering home-made gravy was a great night in my house. I had always watched Grandma do it, but could never seem to catch on. One of the simplest things, and I could not get it - it just didn't work. Then one night, after frying steak fingers, it was just the like th gravy angel came and visited me. I started to make it and it just worked, and everytime after that it has just been perfect!
My cooking tragedies
There are too many to count here. Over easy eggs were a real source of pain for me for awhile, until I learned that a quality skillet and alot of patience will make all of the difference. Tater tot casserole with green beans, I still get made fun of with that. The kids still ask - are you going to put green beans in it? They hated that. Green beans on the side only.
