About this Cook
I am 25 years old and I live in New York City. I recently got married on Christmas Eve. Since then, I have no other choice but to cook every night! I love to cook and bake and I am always looking for new recipes to try. I like experiencing new foods from different cultures from around the world.
My favorite things to cook
I have a lot of favorites...I love cooking Italian and Mediterranean food. My husband is from eastern europe, so I try to cook his favorite foods from his country.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I am like the black sheep in my family, because no one else really cooks. The dishes that they make, I also make as well. Some are, Chicken Marsala, homemade tomato sauce, goulash, and poor man's stew.
My cooking triumphs
I have so many! I make really good meat balls which always causes conflict between my father and I. Also, baked clams, chicken marsala, beef stew, stir fry. I love to bake too, so my popular cakes/desserts are banana nut cake, baklava, chocolate chip cookies, chocolate cake...there are many to list!
My cooking tragedies
The first thing that comes to mind is when I tried to make sugarfree rice pudding, since then, I have never tried to make it or eat it again. Some things just don't taste right without sugar!

Grandma Ople's Apple Pie
I did like this pie, I thought the taste was good. I did make some changes. I did add some cinnamon to it, also a little vanilla extract. I followed the advice of others, instead of pouring all of the mixture on top of the pie, I did mix the apples in about half of the mix, then poured the rest over the top. My pie did come out a little runny, although I did add some extra flour. It tasted pretty good warm with some homemade vanilla ice cream!

Miss Beth's Yoghurt Cake
It tasted OK. It did come out a little dense. I used the brown sugar/cinnamon variation. I think without it, the cake would have been too plain. I also used Vanilla flavored yogurt which did add some more flavor. Maybe I will give it another try with the other variations in one of the other reviews.
