About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
I love to make soups and stews from scratch. I also love my sweets, so I'm often baking cakes and cookies...mostly for my own consumption!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Whenever we have turkey (Thanksgiving, Christmas), my mom always boils the carcass to make turkey stock the next day. Then she whips up a big pot of turkey rice porridge, which fills the house with an amazing smell. My favorite thing to do the day after such a rich meal is have a big steaming bowl of turkey porridge for breakfast! My grandmother used to do it, all my aunts do it, and now my cousins and I do it too!
My cooking triumphs
This last Thanksgiving (2007), my husband and I made the entire dinner from scratch for about 12 people. It was the first time we'd had so many people for dinner, and attempted so many dishes. It was also the first Thanksgiving any of them had ever been to, so we felt a lot of pressure to live up to the hype! It was a raving success, and I had so many compliments and recipe requests! One of the best Thanksgivings ever!

Bread Pudding II
Decent, but too eggy, and if you're planning on eating it with something else, like custard or ice cream, it's way too sweet. In future I would reduce the eggs to maybe 3, and the sugar to 1/2 cup or even less depending on whether you add raisins or not (because remember, they add their own sweetness).

Fluffy Pancakes
Delicious, fluffy, ridiculously easy! Perfect for a lazy Sunday brunch for two. Loved it, and wouldn't change a thing.

Fluffy White Frosting
The flavor wasn't the greatest, but it did have the taste and consistency of marshmallow fluff. It was fluffy, held its shape well, glossy, white, and everyone liked it. I topped chocolate cake and then decorated with fresh berries. It was very pretty!
