Brown Sugar Smokies

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2009
Candied Meat..... What could be better??? First, I threaded the wrapped smokies on bamboo skewers, keeping space in between each one. Then sprinkled brown sugar generously over them and let them sit in fridge overnight. Then sprinkled again while oven was heating up. I cooked them on a baking rack (for cooling cookies) in my half-sheet pan, flipping skewers a couple of times until all sides were crispy. It took a while - maybe 30-45 minutes. OMG good!!!!! Will not only make again, will make time and time again. My new favorite!

Spinach Dip with Water Chestnuts

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2009
This is the dip in the back of the Knorr Veggie Soup Mix envelope!!! It is not great - not gross or inedible, but not good either. The dry soup mix pieces stayed crunchy and the spinach had an earthy flavor that was not tasty. I will not make this again.

Rosemary Shortbread Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2009
These were easy and yummy. The buttery flavor is fabulous. The rosemary is such an incredibly perfect addition. Some of my tasters thought it was just too strange, but there were a few of us who were die-hard lovers of these cookies.

Caramel Popcorn Balls

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2009
Delicious for sure but the recipe didn't make enough caramel coating, in my opinion. I cooked butter-flavored popcorn in the microwave and picked out any unpopped kernels. The caramel didn't coat each piece of popcorn but it did hold the balls together well. My kids loved munching on these while on a walk. Yum!

Shoofly Pie V

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2009
I had never made nor eaten a Shoofly PIe, but I am a molasses fiend so wanted to try this. I really researched all the recipes for Shoofly Pie trying to find an authentic recipe. It was delicious! This pie is really molasses-y, gooey and rich. My pie did not set up well like the photo; it was runny even after cooking for longer than the recipe stated. However, my son and I inhaled this pie within a few days by ourselves!!

Sugar 'n' Spice Nuts

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2009
My family went "nuts" for these. I had a couple of really big men literally begging me for more. It was much easier than I'd thought it would be. My only thing is I wish I had NOT put in the orange. I was the baker, so I knew it was in there and it was the only thing I could taste. Others loved the nuts and wondered what that one flavor is and then after I told them orange, they really tasted it. Next time WITHOUT orange zest.

Burgundy Pork Tenderloin

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2008
I made this yesterday for Thanksgiving in addition to a turkey. I did as others suggested and added mushrooms and omitted the celery. I bought a pork tenderloin that I thought was 2 lbs but was actually 2- 1 lb pieces. So I cut the cooking time. the tenderloin was moist and tender, but the "gravy" was not good at all. The pork was bland and didn't have a lot of flavor. I would NOT make this again at all.

Lemon Crisps

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2008
These cookies sounded so good to me, and the texture was good with the chewy/crunchy combo. However, they had an off-taste to them. They tasted fake, if that makes sense. Too chemically tasting or something. It's like the difference between boxed brownies and from-scratch brownies. It's a HUGE difference.

Delicious Apple Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2008
I changed this recipe to 20 servings as I have a surplus of apples from a U-Pick farm. I used about 16 apples and added cinnamon and nutmeg as well. Delicious!

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2008
This bread is soooo good! My kids love it. I made them in the little tin loaves and froze the rest. Well, no need, as my three kids inhaled slices of this yummy bread for breakfast and consumed a mini-loaf a day!

Beth's Spicy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2008
We love the "spice" in these cookies. Smelled just like Christmas in the house while baking. Mine spread a little; they didn't come out like the photo, but were really delicious. YUM!

French Onion Dip From Scratch

Reviewed: May 15, 2008
I gave this 4* only because I modified the recipe a little. I added twice the amount of onion and some fresh chopped parsley for color. I thought chopped fresh thyme would be outstanding but I didn't have any at the time. I served this at a family BBQ and everyone said it was "highly addictive." I actually only got one chip w/ dip before the whole thing was gone.

Hot Corn Dip

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2008
Changed a few things: 1. Added 1 fresh jalepeno, chopped 2. Added 1/2 c. or so of shredded cheddar 3. Cooked it longer than stated in recipe 4. Ate w/ Fritos scoops and tortilla chips I loved this. I baked it in an 8x8 dish after mixing all ing. in a bowl. I baked it probably 45 mins or more; the middle wasn't bubbling. My husband and I sat down to eat it and before we knew it the entire thing was gone!

Tabbouleh III

Good eating! It is especially delicious as a sandwich. I know, but I toasted a pita pocket in the toaster and piled in the Tabbouleh. Yummy - cool and crisp and satsifying.

Ramen Coleslaw

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2008
Yum! I love the crunch of the salad. I'm a slaw snob and I usually don't like the typical mayo based ones. I love this. I used half the packet of seasoning and rice wine vinegar, and toasted the ramen noodles w/ the seeds and almonds. LOVE IT!

Buffalo Chicken Dip

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2008
I'm going to add to my first review. The second time around, I mixed all ingredients together in a bowl and put the glop in an 8x8 dish and baked it. It came out MUCH better that way. It doesn't look as gross and isn't as oily and separated. Try it, it tastes the same!
