I am a happily married homemaker with 4 children. I have accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as my Savior.
My favorite things to cook
cornish game hens baked in homemade clay wraps; peanut brittle: choc. chip cookies
My favorite family cooking traditions
During Christmas time we will fix the cornish game hens in clay. I prepare the hens and wrap the clay. My husband and children decorate the clay with water based paint to individualize each hen. With serving, we decorate a hammer and a tray so that we can place the hen on a tray and each guest gets to crack open the clay pot and lift out the hen inside. It is a lot of fun.
My cooking triumphs
An Indian dinner of tandoori chicken, almond chicken, marinated and grilled leg of lamb, cauliflower and potatoes with mustard seed, lentils, jabalais was fixed for friends in Bible Study. I did not really cook at the time so I followed recipes in a Bon Appetit dinner party cookbook for the meal. 40 people showed up for the meal in a one bedroom apartment. They thought I was a gourmet cook and I barely new how to fix rice. It was great as one special guest that helped me that night became my husband!
My cooking tragedies
a lemon pie that I put to big of pieces of lemon rind in.... baking potatoes not knowing they were sweet potatoes until we sliced them and saw the orange inside...using raw rice in stir fried dish and wondering why the rice was so hard...
