Honey Baked Chicken II

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2007
This is great. Made minor modifications, based on previous reviews: used only 1/4 cup of butter, spicy mustard, Accent (instead of salt) and poultry seasoning. This was very tasty. I will defintely implement this dish into our family rotation.-----UPDATE: I usually make this using legs or thighs. The last time I made this recipe, I used chicken breasts cut into small pieces. The chicken cooks faster and is great served over rice.

Banana Crumb Muffins

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2007
I love banana bread and looked forward to preparing this. I made it exactly according to the directions, but it wasn't sweet enough. I will try again, using more sugar. I think I'll try a cup of sugar instead of 1/3 cup. Also, I'm thinking maybe my bananas were not very sweet. Good luck to others with this recipe. I will attempt at least once more, just because most of the reviews are positive.

Home Style Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2007
I love macaroni and cheese so I had to try this. I'm not too crazy about cream cheese and was a little concerned about others complaining of an overpowering cream cheese flavor, so I substituted 8 ozs of sour cream, which is what I normally use in my mac and cheese. I also added about 4 more ounces of shredded cheddar cheese. This recipe turned out creamy, cheesy and delicious.

Mexican Lasagna

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2007
This deserves 10 stars. It is simple and tastes great. I've made this a few times and my family always enjoys it. Most times, I make this at the same time I making a traditional lasagna. I usually freeze one or the other. Freezes well. Gotta try this...it's great!

Oklahoma Cheese Grits

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2007
I'm a Southern Girl and grew up eating grits. I was really excited to experiment with a new method of preparing them. Well, I was disappointed in the results of this recipe. It's not that they were "bad", they were just too "different", than what I'm used to. They were too fluffy and too light. It's my own personal preference. I prefer grits that "stick to your ribs". I will continue to prepare grits the good old fashioned way: grits, butter, cheese and milk---cooked in a pot on top of the stove.

Pumpkin Crunch Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2007
Great recipe. However, my southern taste buds prefer sweet potatoes. So, I tried this with a large can of sweet potatoes and it was to die for. I blended the sweet potatoes with a hand mixer. Worked mar-vah-los-ly!!

Chewiest Brownies

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2007
Unfortunately this didn't work for me. It was way to crumbly and a little too chocolaty for my taste. I really should have read the reviews and made the recommended adjustments. I may give this one more shot, (with revisions). :(

Chicken Spaghetti Casserole I

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2007
Loved this recipe. Simple and delicious. Of course I did make a few changes, not because it needed to be changed, just to tweak it to my taste. I used green onions, for additional color. And I added fresh dill. Like another viewer suggested, I sauteed fresh mushrooms and green peppers. Delicious. This will not disappoint.

Strawberry Trifle

Great, simple and tasty dessert. Beautiful presentation. The only change I made was I used vanila wafers instead of pound or angel food cake. Layered wafers throughout and placed them vertically around the dish, kinda like a banana pudding.

I've never been able to make a decent biscuit....but this recipe was literally a piece of cake. They turned out De-Lish-Ous! Will definitely make again. For the record I did use powered buttermilk and a dash of salt. Simple and very good. Please try, you will not be disappointed :)

Cream Cheese Pound Cake I

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2007
The best, the best, the absolute best pound cake I have ever made or tasted. Perfect consistency, sweetness, and baked up with a beautiful "look". I made it for the first time last week and it was gone in two days. And I am currently baking up one right now. What a delightful smell throughout my house. The only thing I'm trying differently this time, is I'm using two loaf pans with 12 individual servings.

Chewy Granola Bars

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2007
These didn't work out for me. I used mini chocolate chips and peanut butter chips. They were too crumbly and fell apart. I probably should have used more butter and packed them more firmly, as stated by others. The taste was okay, so I ended up using the crumbs over ice cream.

Sour Cream Pound Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2006
According to my husband, this is the best Pound Cake I've ever made. Over the years, several times, I've tried unsuccessfully to duplicate his beloved aunt's pound cake. This is the closest I've come to her version. It was absolutely delicious. I will definitely make this cake again. I think I'd like to try it with a sour cream icing/glaze.
