About this Cook
I'm a 30 year old stay at home mommy (a.k.a. Domestic Engineer...lol) to two great kids and married for 5 years to a truly wonderful man. I love to read, scrapbook, quilt, and am an amateur photographer.
My favorite things to cook
I love pasta! I've also been expirimenting with Asian dishes lately as well.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We really don't have traditions. My mom never taught me to cook so I'm self taught. We do have a couple recipes that end up at every family gathering, cream cheese pie and now my egg rolls that I learned to make a couple years back.
My cooking triumphs
Learning to cook!!...lol When I first moved in with my husband we lived off of top ramen and hamburger helper for about two years. When I had my daughter and lost my job all I did was sit in front of the food network (it was the only thing that kept her from crying...lol) and started trying new things I saw. Now my Dad is amazed at my culinary abilities and says that I put my mom to shame.
My cooking tragedies
Some of those early days in learning to cook were pretty bad...lol The only thing I can't seem to master that is bugging me is my Grandmother's recipe for Sweedish Iron Cookies. She used to make them every Christmas and my mom never had the knack for it and it seems that I don't either. It saddens me because it's one of the really fond memories I have of my grandmother.

Chocolate Sandwich Cookies II
I'm giving it 5 stars despite the fact that the filling was a bit gross to me. I had planned on making these for a bake sale at school but didn't give myself enough time & the filling didn't turn out. So I was left with A LOT of chocolate cookies. But they were AWESOME! Soooo soft and chewy even after almost a week! So I halved the recipe the other night, using one box of yellow cake mix and added chocolate chips. Sooooo GOOD! Yellow cake with chocolate frosting is my favorite but I feel like a pig when I make a cake. So doing it cookie style works perfectly for me!

Grilled Garlic Artichokes
We saw grilled artichokes on TV and thought they looked great so I found this recipe. It was a success and my artichoke hating husband has been converted. No more steamed chokes dipped in mayo for this family...lol Although Hubby did not know that the marinade was homemade and asked if I used Italian salad dressing. Obviously I didn't but to save time I do now and it's just as great.
