About this Cook
I am a newly married young woman that loves to spend my time in the kitched whipping up new and creative recipes. I learned my love for cooking growing up with my mom. Once a month we would cook army style as my mom called it and we would freeze what we made so that we had nutritious meals that were easy to re-heat. I became an avid baker as I grew up, but unfortunately due to my diabetes, I cannot eat most of what I bake, but I am still the local "Betty Crocker".
My favorite things to cook
I love chicken and a lot of my recipes call for chicken. I have learned how to prepare it many different ways from stir-fry to baked. I make a fantastic homemade pasta sauce and 3 different types of meatballs. I also love maing homemade pizza and am looking forward to sharing that recipe here!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My favorite family cooking tradition took place when my mom and I would sit down and plan as well as cook for the month. We learned how to make many different foods that we were able to freeze and re-serve. I loved the time in the kitchen with my mom.
My cooking triumphs
I think my best triumph was a pot of homemade split pea soup. I used a hambone from Thanksgiving and a slow cooker and it was the best soup I have ever eaten!
My cooking tragedies
Let's just say that my first Thanksgiving didn't go so well and leave it at that.
