About this Cook
I am a graduate student in NYC and I work full time. I enjoy having people come over bum around and eat my food! :) In fact the only place I feel completely at peace is within my narrow kitchen.
My favorite things to cook
mac and cheese boxed cake with 'from scratch' mocha frosting.
My cooking triumphs
10 person lunch crowd and the stuffed portabello mushroom were absolutely loved and fed everybody.
My cooking tragedies
Not so much as a cooking tragedy...I had the crust and filling for artichoke quiche all ready and it slid out of my hands and drooled all over the oven and floor.

Golden Sweet Cornbread
i really like this. next time i'll cut the salt, and maybe a bit of the sugar. i knew that i should have used the full 2/3 cup of white sugar, but i did 1 white and 1 light brown sugar. so my bread is sweet, but not tooth achingly sweet. i love the outside crunch. i did pour it into a 9inch foil pie pan, no spilling over. i'm sure using soy milk would not have been a problem

Gazpacho Andaluz
Not sure what I ate last week, but it wasn't that good. Very little flavor and very mealy from all the bread. Perhaps that if one has had gazpacho from spain, there is a base knowledge of what it's supposed to be like, so tinkering with it isn't a mystery. I also think there's a lack of clear direction in this recipe. Tasted ok once i dumped a lot of garlic powder in it.

Actually Delicious Turkey Burgers
A really great basic recipe that allows one to tinker with it to suit their own tastes. I did use the whole egg and added in Frank's hot sauce for a bit of zing. plopped them right on my plug in foreman grill, waited 10 minutes, and perfect.
