I'm a college student at University of Vermont, so it's not very easy for me to cook. I try to at least cook 3 full meals each week, not to mention breakfast everyday and the occasional lunch.
I'm most likely going to transfer to a Japanese prep school and University for the next 6 years, so I'm very excited to learn more about Japanese cuisine (I'm pretty well versed now, but on the actual eating side of it, rather than the creation).
My favorite things to cook
Stir fry is fun and easy. If done right, the ingredients hold their flavor rather than being overcome by the taste of tamari or other sauces. I enjoy playing around with the constituents in order to create a cohesive yet flavorful melange of tastes. There's a million ways to do it. :D
My favorite family cooking traditions
There's something called "Glop" that my mother makes, it's macaroni and cheese, a can of tuna, cream of chicken soup (I think?), and peas. Believe me, it's absolutely delicious...
My cooking triumphs
My first meal cooked. Sundried tomato and basic pasta, string beans with a walnut garnish, mini custard-filled pound cakes served warm over a winter fruit compote and french vanilla ice cream. :D
My cooking tragedies
Thinking I could get away without using baking powder...::shudder::
Never again!
