About this Cook
The fresher, the better - having a farmer's market nearby is the best thing for a good cook. I feel sorry for skinny girls - they're missing all the fun!
My favorite things to cook
My note to cooks - don't be afraid to use spices. Picky eaters need to develop a palate, eeeesh. If it doesn't make you sweat, it ain't worth eating!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My Mom and Grandma were fantastic cooks. Would take a millenium to catch up (but getting there).
My cooking triumphs
Thanksgiving turkey (brined), 2007!
My cooking tragedies
Thanksgiving turkey, undercooked, 1995. Ugh. Anything that combines pork and cabbage. Ugh. (Tried it. Hated it - traditional German cooking is..uh..traditionally German...)

Lemon Ginger Shrimp
Excellent as given. Never have found a marinade that works so well for shrimp as this does!

Homemade Mashed Potatoes
Good recipe idea with probably hundreds of variations. Omitted bread crumbs, used feta cheese, topped with sauteed mushrooms and green onions.

Fast Chicken Soup Base
Perfect! Have been looking for a recipe close to that I had in Munich. This is as good as it gets!
