About this Cook
Software Test Manager by day -- working with a bunch of Engineers.:-) Mom and wife by night! Cooking is one of those things that I really enjoy, but don't have enough time to do every day. I'm lucky enough to have a supportive husband. I'm an only child. I collect antiques, although that has slowed down a lot since I am running out of room! Depression glass was one of the first collections. I like to tell my friends that I don't eat "knees" .. meaning animals with four legs, fur and big brown eyes. As a result of this, I end up adapting a lot of recipes.
My favorite things to cook
Appetizers, BBQ and sides. Nothing would be complete without a complimentary cocktail !
My favorite family cooking traditions
Fried Turkey, Garlic Cheese Grits, Pierogies, Crispy Cream Donut Casserole, Layered Salad, Pickled Meat, Peanut Butter Ice Cream Pie, Kahlua Brie,
My cooking triumphs
Really? Triumph seems like a strong word. Can't think of one off the top of my head. I enjoy feeding friends on weekends during the summer months. We enjoy hanging out on the deck, and having cocktail hour.
My cooking tragedies
Almost anything that I bake.

Beef Fondue with Sauces
Made this for my daughter's bday. This recipe brought back fond memories. My mother used to make a bunch of sauces with our fondue as a kid. (Don't think curry was popular in the early 70s tho'. Boy were we really missing something good back then !) Anyway I also made a white horseradish sauce: sour cream, horseradish and some grated onion. All great. Thanks !

Grilled Mexican Steak
Made for Cinco de Mayo -- and got rave reviews from the entire crowd. I used a london broil instead of skirt steak. Kept the rest of the recipe the same.
