The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2009
I wanted a sugar cookie recipe that could be used for both roll and drop cookies, and this is it. I actually mixed up about 1/4 of the recipe, scooped and baked for about 10 minutes with out chilling. They have a great flavor!! Make sure you DO NOT USE a non-stick pan, you want the flavor from the golden browned bottoms of the cookie!!

I did a few things differently, based on what I had on hand, but all in all, this was really good. Thanks for a good recipe.

Chicken Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2009
I needed a recipe that didn't call for celery, which I'm out of. I already had thighs and legs cooking when I went looking for this recipe, so I used those, and the chicken broth (rather than the water and chicken base). My frozen zucchini was shredded, so I used that (easier to sneak in), and since my son's tummy was upset, I left out the garlic and added seasoned salt. My other son LOVED this as much as I did, and he ate 3 bowls of the stuff!! Thanks for a keeper recipe, this was great!!

Chicken Souiza Cornbread Bake

This was good... I halved the recipe, so only used a can of creamed corn. Added my homemade taco seasoning to the bottom layer, and sprinkled some on top before the cheese.

Lentil Rice and Veggie Bake

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2009
Similar to another reviewer, I'm lazy. I sauted the veggies, mixed them with uncooked rice and lentils, etc... baked in the oven at 350, for about 45 minutes... It didn't really need to cook much longer, in my opinion. Good post, thanks!

Winter Energy Cookies

These are also really good as mini muffins... perfect for what I was looking for... a healthier snack for my kids than a handful of cereal or crackers. They're 2, 3 and 7, and they love these! I also really like the texture. Also, these seem to taste better "the next day" than fresh made... When they first come out, they seem to have a "healthy" taste to them... I used almonds and cranberries for the walnuts and raisins.

Italian Restaurant-Style Salad Dressing II

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2009
This was good. I did add a teaspoon of sugar, about 1 tsp of salt, and maybe 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper. I would like it a bit thicker, might add dry pectin next time. Thanks for a great post!

Taco Seasoning I

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2009
I love this stuff... I multiply the recipe by about 10 to have bulk supply on hand. Though I am not exact in measuring, the only change I deliberately make is to omit the salt, as I simply prefer to add salt myself. But if I was making this just for a single recipe, the amount of salt listed is just fine.

Greek Chicken Pasta

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2008
I liked this a lot, so did my husband. I used some leftover turkey that I wanted to get rid of, and I added a TBSP of balsamic vinegar with the lemon juice. I made a few other changes based on what I had available, but this was good, thank you.

Quinoa with Sweet Potato and Mushrooms

We all really liked this, including my 6 and 2 year olds! I did use cumin instead of cayenne, but only because my boys are still "new" to spice, but this is a great recipe that invites experimentation, thank you!

Absolute Stress

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2008
This is good, but I also prefer the more traditional "Absolut Stress" from my days as a bartender: Fill a 12 glass with ice, pour in: 1 oz Absolute, 1 oz Malibu, 1 oz peach schnapps, add only a SPLASH of pineapple juice, and fill it up with cranberry juice. This is heaven, only... deadly!

Beer Cheese Soup II

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2008
So. There I was, with my freshly cooked Mexican-seasoned chicken, all set to make Chicken Taco Soup for my family, when I realized, I had no beans. Well, we'd have had Chicken Tacos, but I'm also out of tortillas. By this time, I'm seriously craving something spicy with chicken and cheese, so, I found this recipe. I did use half the beer, substituted green onions, left out the water, added the cornstarch in with the stock, and will agree that the trick to "non-grainy-ness" is to add the cheese (I used 3 cups, pre-shredded) s-l-o-w-l-y... about 1/4 cup at a time, stirring well, over low heat. o. so I added my chicken, a can of tomatoes with chilis, and a TBSP of taco seasoning, and will probably use a thicker version of this recipe as a dip. thanks!

Chocolate Pound Cake III

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2008
Other than having too much batter for the pan, and the cooking time being way longer than stated... this cake was fabulous!! I did melt 1/2 cup chocolate chips and blended them in with the hot regular coffee (as opposed to strong) before adding to the batter... I will make this again, maybe in loaf pans.

Jeannie's Famous Potato Hamburger Casserole

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2008
This recipe was a good starting point for what I was craving. I microwaved my sliced potatoes for 10 minutes, made a cheesey cream sauce (using Velveeta), topped it all off with about a 2 cups of cheddar. We all really liked it, especially my 2 and 6 year olds!

Fudge Bars

This recipe is easy, and the results were very good. My husband would have liked a more firm chocolate layer, but that didn't stop him from devouring half the pan! My only "complaint" is that I think my chocolate craving is cured for another 6 months, but I WILL be making this again. Thank you for posting this recipe!!

Lamb Stew Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2008
The technique was exactly what I was looking for, but browned the chops with 2 sprigs of rosemary in garlic olive oil, then layered and baked them as directed using only one onion. I did have to cook an extra hour. This was a really good recipe, thank you!
