I am a retired physician (age 62) and have enjoyed cooking all my life. I am lucky that I don't gain too much weight (175), cuz I am always trying new things in the kitchen. My wife is my test eater and usually has great suggestions. Occasionally I totally fail, then our labs (a chocolate and a yellow) are my test eaters. They don't get the whole thing, just a bite.
My favorite things to cook
Chili, casseroles, stir-fry, pasta-anything, cooking with wine.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mothers best recipe, called "Rhea's Ribs". An all time favorite and the recipe that is most requested.
My cooking triumphs
Chili. I lived in southern California for several years and picked up a bunch of great chili recipes.
My cooking tragedies
I can't tell you, they are all buried in the back yard.
