Spiced Sweet Roasted Red Pepper Hummus

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2009
Yum. I roasted a red pepper over the stove instead of using jarred. And I used 3 Tbsp. sesame seeds instead of the tahini. Otherwise I followed the recipe exactly. It's delicious.

Spring Lamb Supper

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2009
Easy and delicious. Everyone liked this and asked that I make it often. I made it as written except I added more squash because I had it and more rosemary because we like it. 14yo son said, "I don't usually like brown rice, but I like it this way!"

Asparagus Avocado Medley

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2009
Delicious! I left out the mushrooms because I didn't have any and the red onion because I don't care for it. Otherwise I made it exactly as written and couldn't stop eating it.

Natalie's Coconut Spice Elixir

This is so good! I fantasize about this smoothie when I've run out of coconut milk and can't make it. I need to stock up so that that doesn't happen anymore. Thanks for sharing.

Venison-Bacon White Chili

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2007
Wow! This is really terrific. Finally I have something I can do with all that ground venison in our freezer. My son doubled this recipe for us last night. A little bit was left over and I was planning to have it for lunch, but dh swiped it for breakfast! The only thing we altered was we left out the cayenne because our cayenne seems extra hot and we're not the types who can handle that much spice. Absolutely perfect! Thanks for sharing this recipe.

Hamburger Cheese Bake

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2007
We've made this twice, the first time for a potluck where it was very well liked, and I received several compliments(actually it was gone before I even got through the line, so I didn't even get to taste it that time.) We made it again tonight for a family dinner. As I suspected the first time--there isn't enough sauce. If the tomato sauce was doubled, I believe this recipe would be a 5-star. The cheese mixture has wonderful flavor , so we will be making this often but will be doubling the sauce.

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2007
This really is the world's best lasagna. It spoiled every other lasagna for me as I've never tasted its equal. It does take a lot of effort, but it's a very reliable make-ahead meal for company and definitely worth the effort for a special meal. The sauce is absolutely amazing.

Slow Cooker Cranberry Roast

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2007
This is a great recipe. So easy and delicious. We've made it several times and have had success with elk and venison roasts, too. We often take it to potlucks and it gets devoured. No one ever guesses that the secret incredient is cranberry sauce.

Vegan Red Lentil Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2007
This has become our favorite recipe for nights when we forgot to plan ahead and need something quick. It cooks up in no time and we always have the ingredients on hand, except the squash which we substitute with carrots. Everyone likes it served over rice. Leftovers are even better.

Steak Stir-Fry

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2007
This has become our standard stir-fry recipe which we have once every week or two. We alter the vegetables to use whatever we have on hand. An excellent recipe for a family dinner.

Chuck Wagon Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2007
This was a fun change of pace for us. We took it to a potluck and were asked for the recipe. We couldn't find wagon wheels, so we used medium shells, and we used grilled elk sirloin instead of beef. Very nice flavor and a beautiful presentation.

Sausage Egg Casserole

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2007
I made this because I had all the ingredients, but honestly didn't think my husband would like it as he never goes for this sort of dish. Well he LOVED it and so did everyone else. I made it exactly as written except I only used one can of green chiles. It was still perfect. Great recipe!

Caramel Apple Dip

A huge hit at the party I took it to. I will definitely make this again. It was so easy. At first it seemed runny, but in the end the consistency was perfect. I followed the recipe exactly.

Curried Lentils

Whoa, Nelly! Loved the flavor, but it was hot, hot, hot. I will probably try it again, but will cut the curry paste in half. Make sure you have a glass of water at hand!

Banana Bread IV

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2007
While this was easy to make and not bad tasting, it wasn't the be-all and end-all of banana bread recipes. I followed the recipe exactly and found the bread a bit too sweet and bland, lacking any depth of flavor. I probably will not make it again. My family agreed.

Heavenly! The whole family loved it, even the 1 and 3 year olds. I didn't have tilapia, but used another fish I had on hand. This is definitely a keeper.

I made two of these today for a potluck tomorrow, but 6yod snitched part of the crust off one, so we got to eat it ourselves. :-) My husband proclaimed it his absolute favorite pie ever. Fabulous recipe!

Dee's Roast Pork for Tacos

We butchered 3 pigs this year. Previously having almost no experience cooking pork, I had no idea what to do with all those shoulder roasts. This recipe was PERFECT! I've made it several times now exactly as it is written. The whole family loves it. I turn the leftovers into enchiladas.

Crab and Pea Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2006
My family usually turns up their noses at this type of dish, but I recently made it for a potluck. Everyone loved it, even my family. We didn't have enough peas so we added some green onions instead of the onion powder. Delicious.
