I developed an interest in cooking a few years ago when I took some classes. I still have a ways to go, but I am having fun every step of the way. Other than cooking, I love to sew, play piano, collect various things, and spend time with my family and pets.
My favorite things to cook
The first things I learned to cook were breads and desserts, so I am a bit partial to those. I have made yeast breads many times, and am always looking for new recipes. But, I am slowly progressing into other fields, and will hopefully become a well-rounded cook in the future.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family enjoys Italian, Chinese, and Middle Eastern food the most. Some of our favorite recipes are duck lasagna, corn pudding, bacon pasta, Indian rice pudding, and many more I can't think of right now...
My cooking triumphs
I can't think of anything at the moment, but I guess I can just say that I am still learning and I haven't cooked long enough. :)
My cooking tragedies
One time, I either killed the yeast, or didn't give it warm enough water to rise, so my loaves of bread didn't work at all. It was frustrating, especially after all of that kneading (I still do prefer making bread by hand). Also, I tried to make bagels once, and they were tiny and didn't brown at all. I'll have to give those another try; I am not sure what went wrong.
