About this Cook
I live in a quaint little town about 2hrs from Ottawa with my husband of 1 yr. We're expecting our first child near the end of Dec '05 and couldn't be happier.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake -- though my (pre-preggo) waistline doesn't seem to agree.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I grew up with my father making cooking a meal and entire event, the whole family was involved in the preparation and, of course, the consuming!
My cooking triumphs
The first time I had a successful flambe!! Never mind the fact that my husband joked he smelled burned hair -- it was very very cool.
My cooking tragedies
When I tried to make pizza at 8 yrs old -- we were out of cheese so I used Cheese Whiz and frozen peas (a pizza must have veggies). It was horrible and even the dog wouldn't eat it.

Applesauce
When making this be sure to follow the other reviewers addvice and watch the amount of water that you choose to add. I didn't add any sugar despite the fact that I used Granny Smith apples as I like my applesauce very tart. A great recipe - I won't go back to store bought.

Good Old Fashioned Pancakes
I followed this recipe exactly and found that my pancakes turned out over done on the outside and liquid on the inside. The batter was incredibly thick and kept getting thicker the longer it stood. I don't know what happened, I'll probably try this again to see if it was just the weather or something.

J.P.'s Big Daddy Biscuits
The only reason why I didn't give this 5 stars is because, to me, nothing does it quite like the biscuits I had growing up. Aside from that, this recipe is certainly a keeper.
