About this Cook
I am a medical student living abroad. A few years ago my boyfriend and I moved into a new flat and the kitchen finally became MINE!! We have wonderful appliances (although only a few of them which adds to the fun!) and I love to get in there and try out new recipes!
My favorite things to cook
I used to love baking more than anything else, but since I can't eat sweets and only sweets I started to focus more on savory dishes. Now I love to prepare hearty one-dish meals.
My cooking triumphs
Over the summer, I learned to make several Hungarian dishes while hanging out at Lake Balaton. It was great to hear Hungarians say that the dish was delicious! Additionally, my boyfriend told me that he didn't think it was possible to love me more, but after tasting my creme brulee he did.
My cooking tragedies
I try to put these out of my head. Nevertheless, I own a cookbook and the chef/author makes it sound like if you can't make cheese puffs you can't call yourself a cook. So, I started working on them. The first batch tasted nice but they looked like pancakes. The second batch looked great and tasted like egg-wash, yuck!

Apple Bavarian Torte
I followed the recipe exactly; it was super easy and turned out very well. Thank you so much! Oh, I just want to add that initially I was afraid that I had too many apples (I used 4 gigantic apples) because mine weren't nicely layered like I saw other peoples but just piled on top of the cheese mixture. Nevertheless, by the end of the baking process they cooked down giving off quite a bit of liquid, which also corrected itself after cooling. So...although I had a few doubts while putting the torte together and watching it cook, ultimately it turned out just fine.

Fettuccini with Basil and Brie
I'm pleasantly surprised. In all fairness I had to make quite a few changes but I did try sticking to the recipes as much as I could it's really tasty. I used goat cheese instead of Brie, warmed it up on the stove and added the garlic (because I was starving and another reviewer suggested it, thank you!) Ultimately I left out the oil and vinegar because the goat cheese is so nice an creamy that it wasn't needed. So...I'm sorry for rating this when I changed the recipe, but I have to say that it's a nice base recipe that seems to be easily adjustable to whatever you have on hand.

Double Layer Pumpkin Cheesecake
Mmmm! It's like a creamy pumpkin pie! I followed the recipe exactly except that I didn't top it with whipped cream and it's still perfect! It's a keeper, no changes needed. I just want to add that now I've eaten this after 3 hours and after a night in the fridge. The texture improves dramatically overnight. Try to wait, it's worth it!
