I'm in my early 20's and was told a few years ago I had to learn to cook. Who knew I'd be good at it! I love detailing recipes and being creative. I love anything loaded with colour! I'm lucky to have someone who is always willing to eat and love everything I make in the kitchen...
My favorite things to cook
I love baking desserts. The best desserts are the ones that take alot of effort and time and people are really wowed by them. I also like cooking fancy dinners that also amaze people. You can never go wrong with chicken dinners and chocolate desserts!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Like most families the Thanksgiving turkey is a pretty big tradition and one day I'd love to tackle it. One of my favourites would definately have to be roasting pumpkin seeds. That's why my recipe for Pumpkin Pie includes what to do with the seeds.
My cooking triumphs
Wow...there's been a few times that I've said holy ---- I actually did it. I'm always amazed when I make a recipe look like the picture. My favourite would probably be the cherry cheesecake that looked like a magazine cut out. Or possibly the giant birthday cake I made for my niece's birthday. It was 4 layers high and had flowers made of sugar and a giant Pooh Bear made of sugar on top.
My cooking tragedies
Worst experience ever in the kitchen was without a doubt the day I decided to impress my boyfriend with fresh baked bread. Mom said to just stick the dough in the oven... No one ever said to let it rise. It was a sad loaf of bread...rather compact and gooey. My thoughtful boyfriend attempted to eat the mess anyways. That's why he's my favourite taste - tester!
