Black and White Cookies I

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2009
Very good. I used semi-sweet chocolate instead of the bittersweet, just out of preference. However, my husband didn't like the glaze ontop of the cookies and I agree that the next time I make these I will use a buttercream frosting. I was a little apprehensive about using the lemon extract but it worked! These taste as if you bought them in a bakery, seriously! I was so pleased, and so was my daughter, they are her favorite!!

Cheesecake Bars

Excellent recipe! I didn't use the recommended crust, instead I used a graham cracker. I also doubled the filling recipe and good thing that I did because I don't think that it would be enough. These were quick, easy and my picky husband and daugher loved them!!

Pasta with Peas and Sausage

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2009
Really good recipe! I used spagetti noodles instead of the rigatoni and my husband and daughter loved it! Also, I didn't have frozen peas on hand, so I used canned peas and it was wonderful. Quick and easy, but absolutely delish!! Love it and will keep the recipe on hand for future uses.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Wacky Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2009
I was going to give this recipe four stars because I felt as if it were lacking flavor after I initially made but decided against it. It was super easy first off and didn't call for any eggs. You could throw this cake together in an instant! After it sat all night and I tasted it the next day I noticed that the flavors had time to enhance and I thought that it tasted better. It reminded me of a box cake, but better of course!! I didn't use the frosting recipe that it called for, I used the fluffy peanut butter frosting recipe from this site. The cake was really moist, light and fluffy. I added pure vanilla extract to the wet ingredients for adding them to the dry. I would recommend giving this a try, it's worth it!

Double Chocolate Pie

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2009
I really liked this recipe. The filling set very well and tasted great. I shortened the steps by adding the egg yolks to the milk and whisking them together before adding them into the pot. This worked out fine seeing how I did this technique in a different custard pie. Just don't stop moving it around. Other than that I didn't change a thing and I received rave reviews!

Coconut Cream Pie VI

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2009
Excellent and super easy pie!! I love this recipe and will add it to my recipe box. I added a half of teaspoon of coconut extract to the filling because I had it on hand and figured, 'why not'!! Make sure not to rush the process and keep stirring the custard the entire time. I used the Stabalized whipped cream recipe from this site for the topping and I would recommend that because you don't want a runny topping. Love it, thanks!!

Good, but not my favorite. Crisp outside and chewy center. A really good flavor. I didn't make them big, only tablespoon size because they were for my five year old daughter.

Big-Batch Butterscotch Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2009
I really enjoyed this recipe. I don't like the bag butterscotch chips so I didn't take the reviewers recommendations. Instead, I added pecans and toffee chips. These came out soft and chewy and delicious. If I hadn't added anything I feel that they would have been a bit too plain. You can really do a ton of things with this recipe, I love it!! Thanks

Cut-Out Cookies in a Flower Pot

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2009
****!! I have said that other sugar cookies were the best in the past but, hands down this one out of this world! I halved the recipe and it was perfect with the measurements given. I followed the recipe exactly despite all the reviewers saying that they didn't used the butter extract. It was such a nice delicate flavor and I think this was due to the extracts in the recipe. A sturdy, soft and flavorful cut-out. Perfect!! Loved it.

This was a quick, easy and really good recipe! I added some vanilla extract to the cake mix to give it a more homemade taste and everything else I did the same. I baked it in a tube pan and it was finished in about 36 minutes. Loved it!!

Pumpkin Pie Squares

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2009
I doubled the crust recipe per other reviewers suggestion but I was disappointed. I didn't double the entire recipe and should have because the pumpkin filling wasn't enough for how thick the crust ended up. I used a 9 X 13 in pan and if your not doubling the recipe I would go ahead and put the mixture into a 9 inch baking pan. I wasn't a big fan of the crust but my husband loved the squares and he is a hard judge! Overall, I would make again because it is reminiscent of a pumpkin pie, without having to deal with making a pie crust, letting it rest and rolling it out. SO easy!!!!!

Pecan Sour Cream Pound Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2009
Love it! At first I was a little apprehensive about putting the orange glaze on top of the cake. I was worried that the orange would somehow overpower the cake but I wanted to make it the way the recipe stated and I was pleasantly surprised! It just works and I loved it! I baked mine in a tube pan and just as other reviewers stated, it was a little difficult to get out of the pan and I'm not sure why. This is an excellent recipe. Simple to make with a down home taste. Really good, a keeper!

Cream Cheese Pound Cake I

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2009
I wasn't too fond of this cake at all. I was quite disappointed with it actually. It wasn't too sweet but there were other issues that I had with it. I felt as if the cream cheese flavor was too overpowering. It reminded me of a cream cheese sugar cookie. The crust hardened and split away from the cake. The taste was just not really good. I would suggest for any other people looking to bake this cake, to use a tube pan because the bundt pan doesn't work for this particular recipe.

Strawnana Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2009
I'm going to give this recipe four stars, although right after it came out of the oven i would have voted higher. I made the recipe exactly as written besides adding a splash of vanilla extract out of habit. As the flavors mellowed together over night I found that the orange zest became too pronounced. I would suggest either cutting by half or omitting it all together. It is a bit overpowering. When I first tasted it I actually got hints of the strawberry, bananas and orange zest and it was fantastic but not so true the next day. Love the difference in the bread but will not add the orange zest next time. I baked mine in a 9 by 13 inch cake pan and it came out perfect. Will definitely keep though, so that tells you something!! Thanks for the recipe!
