My grandparents owned a diner and grandma was the best cook I've ever known. My mother and grandmother taught me alot and I've been able to cook since I was a young child. I've always enjoyed serving others and have never been "afraid" to experiment with recipes,it's fun for me and I love to feed people!
My favorite things to cook
I like to try just about anything. I wouldn't know if I liked something unless I was willing to try it.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love to prepare holiday meals. Most celebrating involves food, family, friends and fellowship. I enjoy making Christmas cookies and candies with my husband and our children, it's quality time making special memories as well as treats, that is a true gift in itself.
My cooking triumphs
Being the one who prepares most of the holiday meals, there is a sense of accomplishment in planning and preparing Thanksgiving dinner, my mother's annual birthday tea party, our Christmas Eve open house and Christmas dinner and still have a sense of humor for the new year, I get the job done and I enjoy the experience of it all sincerely.
My cooking tragedies
When my husband and I were newly weds back in 1989 and we rented our first apartment I had a difficult time trying to adjust to using the apartment's 40 year old oven! I was to make 2 pumpkin pies for Thanksgiving dinner and that old stove caught my desserts on fire! I couldn't bring a "burnt offering" so I sadly brought 2 restaurant replacement pies 5 minutes before dinner. More of a comedy than a tragedy actually.
